Petition to the White House on speeding up process of getting K-1

people who come on tourist visas with the intent to marry and adjust status are breaking the law, plain and simple, not a risk worth taking. The reason people cannot get visitor visas from certain countries with pending petitions is because of people who abused the system and adjusted their status while here on said visas. The government doesn't need to be reminded of how broken our system is, they are well aware of it. Have you watched the news lately? Ever hear of immigration reform? They are working on it.

Ever so slowly.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

it has nothing to do with cynicism, the point is the government is well aware that immigration is broken and needs to be fixed. Sending a petition won't change anything, immigration reform is already in the works.

The only thing I've seen concerning immigration reform is how they want to make illegal people legal. I haven't seen anything concerning fixing the current family based LEGAL immigration process. Do you have a link to this?

From Obama's State of the Union last night. He mentioned fixing the current legal system, but I believe his priority is the 11 million illegals and getting those votes for the next Democratic canidate.

Our economy is stronger when we harness the talents and ingenuity of striving, hopeful immigrants. And right now, leaders from the business, labor, law enforcement, and faith communities all agree that the time has come to pass comprehensive immigration reform.

Real reform means strong border security, and we can build on the progress my Administration has already made – putting more boots on the southern border than at any time in our history, and reducing illegal crossings to their lowest levels in 40 years.

Real reform means establishing a responsible pathway to earned citizenship – a path that includes passing a background check, paying taxes and a meaningful penalty, learning English, and going to the back of the line behind the folks trying to come here legally.

And real reform means fixing the legal immigration system to cut waiting periods, reduce bureaucracy, and attract the highly-skilled entrepreneurs and engineers that will help create jobs and grow our economy.

In other words, we know what needs to be done. As we speak, bipartisan groups in both chambers are working diligently to draft a bill, and I applaud their efforts. Now let's get this done. Send me a comprehensive immigration reform bill in the next few months, and I will sign it right away.

Well at least he mentioned this:

And real reform means fixing the legal immigration system to cut waiting periods, reduce bureaucracy, and attract the highly-skilled entrepreneurs and engineers that will help create jobs and grow our economy.

That implies to me that he is cool with more H1-B workers coming and taking American jobs though, not anything to speed up the process for family based petitions.

Wondering if we sign and then share on our social networks, will it create a chain/geometrical progression event?) Not many people understand our cause.

You should have included all family based immigration petitions. They're all processing too slowly. I'm through that phase, but signed it.

That is the beauty of Americans . They only care about the aspect of government that involves them. That's why ere isn't enou pressure on Government to speed up the immigration project, because the every day average American doesn't really know about immigration process ,unless they have an immigrant in their immediate family.

it has nothing to do with cynicism, the point is the government is well aware that immigration is broken and needs to be fixed. Sending a petition won't change anything, immigration reform is already in the works.

Then I suppose we should never speak out about anything that a politician has already said they would work on? Pointing a speicifc problem such as processing times due to low staff and high volume are TWO not one hot button issue right now.

Bring them to the forefront of the site will get them in the news and people will start asking themselves....why the hell does it take 7 months to process 11 pages of paper? Then people will likely say like many of us have already....No wonder people try to get here illegally, it takes almost a year just from redtape.

You are making the assumption that activism makes no difference if the government is already working on reforms for who can be a citizen under what conditions when we are petitionnig for faster processing times.
