Hi everyone! I hope someone can help me with this. My wife was here in the U.S. with an A-2 visa (diplomatic) since 2003 (we were married this year), and we are now filing for AOS concurrently with an I-130.

We live in New Jersey and I understand that we must file the AOS package in Chicago. On the form I-130, question 22, it asks what office my wife will be applying for AOS. Do we say Chicago, or the office that has jurisdiction over our place of residence (Newark or Vermont)? I'm a little confused

I have the same exact question..

BUT what is the district office ?/

would that be Nebraska for a applicant from MN.

Put your district office. Chicago is just where you send the paperwork, it doesn't stay there long.

Thanks dr!

March 11- mailed out AOS to chicago

March 31- I-485 touched.

April 3- got letter in mail saying Initial interview on May 15.

interview came way too fast..

approved 2 yr card on july 2007

Feb10 - mailed out I-751 to CSC

Feb20 - did biometrics

waiting waiting waiting for the 10 year card......................................

Don't forget this special instruction, for A visa holders:

You have A, E or G nonimmigrant status or have an occupation that would allow you to have this status,unless you complete Form I-508 (I-508F for French nationals) to waive diplomatic rights, privileges and immunities and, if you are an A or G nonimmigrant,unless you submit a completed Form I-566;

Thanks for the reply, meauxna. The package we are sending in contains these forms: I-130, I-485, I-864EZ, I-765, I-566, I-508, I-131, G-325A (for both of us), and finally I-693. We just made copies in triplicate for all of these forms and supporting docs today.

I was poring over everything this evening, dotting all of my t's and crossing my eyes, when I came upon the question #22 on the I-130 form. From what I understand, I should put Newark, NJ as the office that we are applying for the AOS.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Is it really necessary to bind this package? Should I bind all of these forms with one big paper clip, or a clip for each form?

hey Bobby, I remember the feeling. :) Just wanted to mention that special addition for the A visas since they're not very common (you might be a published VJ first!).

I always just used big bulldog clips to hold everything together, but clipped my individual application parts together. IE: everything for the I-130, one clip, everything for the I-765 etc. If you're super #######, you can attach a copy of the I-485 to the dependant applications (work and travel).

The I-864 and I-566 should be part of the I-485, I think.

If it's possible, I recommend stepping away from your packet over the weekend so you can look at it with fresh eyes later on.

Letting it go out of your capable hands to the winds of (seeming) fate is the hardest part for some of us. Even harder than the waiting. :)

I'd remind you to quadruple check the I-864--there have been silly RFEs for that, and that will halt processing of the EAD and AP while they wait for your 'initial' evidence.

best wishes for a speedy & painless case!
