I saw a lot of questions on here, and I saw a lot of uations elsewhere on the Internet, so I figured I'd pop in here and try to be helpful.

We just got scheduled for our interview today (fingers crossed), but I was pretty unsure about my Affidavit of Support when I filed it, but apparently it was accepted and pushed through with what I sent, so I'd like to list what I sent so others may look at it and see what got accepted:

The barcoded cover sheet.

I wrote another cover sheet explaining all the contents of the package and put it under the barcoded cover sheet, signed and dated with my SSN.

My I-864EZ with three IRS transcripts (not W-2s or 1040s) for the past three years. (For current income, I put down only my taxable income based on my base pay; I wasn't sure if I should put all my allowances down, but two calls to the NVC told me, "Only taxable income," and, "It's just a ballpark figure," so I went with the safe choice).

My last six months of LESs.

My statement of service (Air Force guys, this can be located in ARMS, not sure where other branches keep their digital records).

My re-enlistment contract from last year (once again, ARMS for Air Force guys).

That apparently got accepted without issue. So I just figured I'd let you know what got me through.

I am the USC.

Thank you!

Is your statement of service the military version of the employment letter?

Do keep us updated! My husband's an airman, too :)

Pretty much. I mean, you CAN get a letter written by your Commander/supervisor/etc. in command letterhead to put in its place, but as you know, anything the Commander is gonna put his/her signature on is going to require some finesse; gotta send it up the chain, hope it gets to them in time, hope it doesn't get sent back for errors, etc. etc. Being deployed, I did NOT wanna go through all those steps and delay it any longer than it already had been (I'd waited a month just for IRS transcripts).

The statement of service letter is basically a memorandum that specifies the date you joined the military and your status (AD, Reserve, ANG, etc.) with your name and SSN. I joined in '06, so I'm not sure if they've updated the format since, but mine is very plain and simple looking; no formatting to speak of, just a plain white sheet with block text; it honestly looks like it was typed with a typewriter lol.

Yup. We've gotten one before for my visa application to a different country. It does state everything USCIS needs to know about employment. Hmmm, might put a copy of my husband's orders too, then. Thanks for your help! ;)
