My parents are going to have an interview for B2 visa in the US consulate in Cairo, Egypt.

I just need to know how long it might take them before they get the approval since I already booked the ticket on the 20th of this month.

Any hints will be appreciated.

Thanks

What about AP?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

The questions you need to be asking in regards to the issuance of a tourist visa is what are the chances of obtaining it and will either or both parents be placed in AP. To obtain a tourist visa they must prove strong ties to the home country such as employment, home ownership, family. The embassy works from the premise that anyone applying for a tourist visa is intending to remain in the US and not leave when the visa expires. It is up to the applicant to prove they have more reasons to return to the home country than to remain in the US. Having a child who is a US citizen living in the US can be considered a negative.

Even if they are tentatively approved, given the country of residence, there is a good reason to believe one or both parents will be placed in Administrative Processing to verify they have not criminal history, no ties to terrorist organizations, etc.
