Plenty of people care. Plenty of people lie to polls or surveys to make themselves sound better. Not a lot of people will admit how unhealthy they are.

I am skeptical. Telephone interviews reveal the worst of humanity in other spheres - science, education, etc. Why would a species that is willing to share its ignorance with a pollster suddenly shy away when it comes to being fat and liking doritos?

People at work here lie about their eating/exercise habits on their health risk assessments every year. People who eat like ####### and never go to the gym say they eat pretty well and exercise a few times a week. It's BS, but they say it anyway. I can't explain why.

i'm sorry but a poll using "data" collected over the telephone isn't going to cut it for me..

they asked people how much they exercise, smoke, and what types of food they eat. wonder how often religious folk lie about such things?

Hey you guys asked for his evidence, now he presents it and you call it lies. I thought the claim pretty dubious myself, but he dug up the evidence.

To suddenly dismiss it because its done by phone, or to say they're all lying is to say ever poll is a lie because by phone is how the vast majority of polls are made.

This poll was not generated by a biased source. This poll was done by an organization well known for producing accurate and scientifically processed polls, with back checking for accuracy.

Just because you don't like the answer doesn't mean its a lie. Heck, you're sounding the the Tea Party when you do that. If you don't like or believe the result, find another poll that shows the opposite from as reputable a source. You blame people of faith for believing in things when the facts are in their face that it could not have been that way, and now you're doing the same thing to support Atheistic faith.

It's basically a questionnaire that you fill out once a year. Then there's a physical exam, though I'm not sure what's included in that exam since I haven't had one.

No, I'm not. I don't believe in polls conducted over the telephone for anything, not just this.

Group up a bunch of religious people vs non religious and give them a physical exam. Show some actual data, not just what people tell you in a phone call.

i'm not suddenly dismissing anything. i consistently dismiss anything danno says.

when i said i wanted proof, i should have specified scientific proof, not personal assessment via gallup poll. my bad.

additionally - i do not know a single religious person (by the polling standard) who is not overweight, if not morbidly obese. that might have something to do with my distrust of this poll.
