I am sure this was asked somewhere before, but because i dont want to hijack someone else's post

i am just a little confused

i see that people are asking about and gathering documents to prove the relationship

( i am going on an interview for a CR-1 visa)

but i think such documents and proof was included in the petition i-130 package that we sent

do we have to bring the same stuff ? different stuff ? how am i supposed to find different stuff ?

what is the whole idea behind asking for the same thing twice ? do i need to bring something extra or something completely different... i cant seem to grasp this

now about other types of documents.. i know if i sent the originals i need to bring copies with me or if i send copies i need to bring the originals with me

i am not sure if u guys know this specifically, but the embassy in sofia requires 2 additional documents, but .. they are sort of the same that the nvc wants, so i sent them to the nvc... does that mean i have to go get them again - one of them is the court/police certificate and the other is a marital status certificate ( diffrent from marriage certificate)... if they do want them again, why on earth do they want godzilian copies/originals of the same things

also photographs.. i sent 2 photographs to the NVC, do i still need to bring 2 photographs to the interview ?

Lets see if we can make this simple and clear as possible. Whatever DOCUMENTS or evidence you sent to uscis gets sent to NVC after your petition is approved. That's why you will hear some members saying "frontloading" your petition with evidence so when it get approved they will get forwarded to NVC.

NVC in tend gets ALL the documents and asks for others such as I-864, DS 230, plus more stuff like passport size photos, police cert/report, original BC or certified copy of BC and ALL the other documents you see in the NVC guides.

So some members here advice that (and this is great advice IMO) you or the beneficiary bring along EXTRA sets of everything -- be it passport photos, evidentiary photos, copies of BCs, police report, I-864 plus ALL Documents you had submitted throughout the process just in case all these documents you had previously sent DOES NOT get to the consulate. (And it has happened before where people think they sent in all requested documents only to be told at interview by the CO that they're missing this & that document).

Can you imagine the frustration, disappointment and headache that would be when your visa is NOT approved because of one document you know well you had submitted? And can you imagine what difference it will make if you had extra set of passport photos at the interview to readily submit to avoid such a bad experience of being told: "oh we are holding off of approving your visa beacuse we do not have the beneficiary's passport photo in the file"?. It helps to have sets of every document ready on hand just in case.

i did plan on getting everything that we sent again, but would simple photo copies of those documents be enough or do i have to get new original ones in case they lost them ?

and more importantly, do i need to bring supporting documents to prove the relationship different from the ones already submited ... this is the main part i dont understand... like we already sent photos of us with the petition.. now again... different photos ? same photos ?

Same photos, but if you have new photos that will help PROVE your relationship beyond any doubt, why not bring them along to the interview? It will not hurt in my view. Also, it is good to have certified copies of all your original documents just in case. You just will never know what they may be missing in your file at the consulate. I would spend the time gathering all these documents before interview so I don't get surprised. Good luck to you!

If you have same photos just bring along to interview just in case...

This is a thread to help buttress the point I was making: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/292201-montreal-consulates-missing-documents-review-time/. You just want to avoid this headache if you can help it.

Okay, need info on this.

I'm deployed. I have no originals. I won't get back until after her interview.

I sent a photocopy of my life insurance (which names her as the sole beneficiary), because the Air Force keeps the original. They give me a photocopy to keep for my records. It's sitting in a file cabinet in my MPF back in Ohio right now. I highly doubt they'll let me have it.

I also sent a photocopy of my will; I sent photocopies because I have been told by lawyers not to send the originals to anyone. Only send them copies (with the word "Copy" on the top right hand corner of every page) and keep the originals back home, locked up, not bring it with me on deployment. Now, I can probably have my First Sergeant DHL it to my wife before the interview, but I'm really hoping I don't need to do that.

I sent my VRED, or Virtual Record of Emergency Data, which lists my wife as my spouse (and once again, sole beneficiary of all my unpaid pay and allowances if I should pass away). The key word is virtual, as it does not exist in paper form, it's a DoD database, so no "originals" per se exist.

Um....do we have a problem lol?

Here's what I'm referring to:

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3741.html

•Family-based cases: All original documents establishing the relationship between the petitioner and the applicant

Alright, so, as I said above, in the I-130 I sent a copy of my insurance form (SGLI) and my vRED; the first is a single sheet of paper which the only original is kept by the Air Force. And as mentioned, the vRED is simply on a virtual DoD database; there is no "original" to speak of.

Now, I made a mistake in my above post; I did not send a copy of my will to the NVC, but I did send a copy to my wife. The will copy, as my lawyers instructed, has the word "COPY" on the top right hand corner of every page. She wants to bring it to the interview with her (we are frontloading) in case they want to see additional evidence. The problem in our minds is what if they ask for an ORIGINAL will? Or the original, signed in ink, insurance form? The first, while I can have it DHL'd to my wife before the interview, is back hom in Ohio in my house, as my lawyers instructed me to do. The second is locked away in a maze of file cabinets at my local MPF; they give me a photocopy to keep, I highly, highly doubt they will give me an original at all.

Now, the guy at the NVC I just talked to basically told me he had no idea what I was talking about (go NVC!). I tried to explain to him, but I didn't have access to a computer (I was using Wi-Fi calling on my phone and our Internet is set up so only one device can be connected to it at one time).

Now, all the other stuff I sent were originals (affidavits from my family, etc.) and she has the rest of the originals of the copies I sent her, it's just these specific documents that are throwing us for a loop.
