The medical people will accept either size, so if you have a spare UK size use that. My husband had both sizes at the medical and asked which they preferred. She took the UK size and said the US size doesn't fit on their form and they trim it down a bit anyway.

2 US size passport photos to the interview.

Your other question about documents. Make spare photocopies of the things you want back from the photocopies you have...if that makes sense. Meaning --always keep a set at home and don't give away your only copy. Then at the interview you hand over the photocopy and get back your original birth certificate, marriage certificate, divorce decree....whatever document you want back.

Thank you so much! Haha yup that makes sense! WIll make sure to do that! I will get 2 US size for interview. Last questions, the 2 photos I send to NVC with IV package...does it matter what size they are? (I.e. UK or US?)

Thanks,

Cat

If you had sent the proper US size to NVC, then you wouldn't even need to take any to the interview. You are getting 2 US sized made to replace the other two in case they have a problem with them. Maybe they won't even notice, but you are taking 2 the proper size to cover your mistake.

When you go for the medical, there are places near the Bond Street Tube station that do US size. Also Gould's Pharmacy by the embassy (where you will store your phone, keys, electronics before the interview) also takes US passport photos. There's even a photo booth in the embassy, but it seems to be out of order often.

Let me add this to my reply. If you are worried NVC will reject you over the wrong sized photos---No I don't think so. They pretty much collect documents and don't evaluate anything. You can get past NVC, then find out at the embassy your photos were wrong, or your Affidavit of Support was lacking documentation, or you got the wrong police certificate.

My interview date is Tuesday 5th of March, I didn't receive an email or a letter, I had been calling the embassy every week to chase them up and one day they told me that they had sent a letter out and my interview date. Said letter never arrived but after another call they gave me the web link to the required documents page and told me not to worry (too late!).

I'm applying for a K-1 visa, submitted documents to NVC. From what I understand, that means I need to take the following:

- Birth certificate

- Police certificate

- Passport

- 2 US size photos

What about DS-230 parts 3 & 4? Isn't that the one you're supposed to sign in front of the consular officer?

Also, I think I may be confused (no, I definitely AM confused) about the affidavit of support, my fiancee is a grad student and earns $14,000 a year and I recently graduated and am not working in the UK. We had her dad fill complete an I-134 and mail it to the embassy (which they confirmed receipt of) as we were advised in December but for I'm concerned we're missing something? Do I need an i-864 as well? Confused!

Thanks,

Rob

K1s do not submit anything to NVC. They send their application forms to the embassy. They take their documents to the interview.

From what I understand, that means I need to take the following:

- Birth certificate

Affidavit of support, Military records, divorce decree, name change documents?? They give you a list. Take want applies to you.

Also K1s pay in advance and take the email receipt to the interview.

Throw those away. Not for a K1. You will sign DS-156K in front of the officer. You mailed it to the embassy not signed.

You may be confused because you are reading posts from K1s as well as IR1/CR1 married people. The process and documents are totally different. A K1 Affidavit of support is I-134. Hopefully Dad sent proof of his income with the I-134. And hopefully they can find it on your interview day because normally the applicant brings it with him. It is totally acceptable for him to mail it to the embassy. Remind the person who collects your documents the first time you are called to a window to look in your file for it.

They will do an I-864 for you when you apply for Adjustment of Status.

Brilliant, thanks Nich-Nick, very helpful!

Do I need to take copies of ALL the paperwork already submitted? i.e. DS-156, DS-157, etc? Or just copies of the paperwork required for the interview, which in my case would be police certificate & birth certificate?

Thanks,

Rob

There's been a few times they couldn't find the forms so if you had spare copies to pull out, it would save the day. Some of the forms were to be sent in duplicate. I trust you read and followed those directions??

Argh. I just pulled out the letter I received from the embassy requesting those forms and it does indeed ask for duplicates, #######, how the hell did I miss that? I think it's because I called the visa information line with some questions and had them confirm what I needed and they never mentioned duplicates. I'll have to dig out the paperwork again and complete duplicates. I'm glad you pointed that out. Stressed!
