INFO ON FILLING FORM DS-230

I need some insights from those who used US EMBASSY in lagos Nigeria for (CR1 VISA), concerning how to fill the form DS-230. Some people on this forum said, both PART 1 and PART 2 are to be filled by beneficiaries without signatures until interview DAY, while other said part 1 needs to be filled and signed leaving PART 2 until interview day infront of consular officer. Please clarify

Questions 1 through 34 need to be filled out prior to the visa interview, The beneficiary can sign at the bottom of Page 2 or Part 1, the (Biographic Data) section of the form.

Part 2 (page 3 and 4) is the (Sworn Statement) part that needs to be signed in front of the consular officer so no signing at the bottom of part 2 or page 4 of the document. If you note between question 34 and 35 there is a disclaimer that states: "DO NOT WRITE BELOW THE FOLLOWING LINE The consular officer will assist you in answering item 35 DO NOT SIGN this form until instructed to do so by the consular officer." So since questions 26 through 34 are above the line they can be filled out prior to interview.

Some consulates separate the 2 parts of this form and send Part 1 in packet 3 and part 2 in packet 4 to prevent the beneficiary from signing part 4

The signing in front of the C.O is like taking an oath before them. I dont think any embassy would change that particular section of the form. Any way, suffice it to note that at the Lagos Embassy, that is the procedure. I have filled 2 DS-230 forms for family members and they have gone through this process

YUANDDAN is correct, and this is the case for Lagos as well.
