By virtue of these midterms alone? No. He is not. He isn't a lame duck unless he makes himself one. He still has the bully pulpit of President. That he doesn't really know how to use it is another question altogether.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

By the strictest definition of the term? Not for another couple years.

By the meaning I think you're getting at, that remains to be seen. He may be or he may not; it's up to Congress.

His nature is not to work with people. If he continues this, then there will be grid-lock, thereby making him a lame duck because he would not accomplish anything if he doesn't comprimise.

I don't think he vetoed a single bill in 6 years. But now, the veto pen is probably on his desk already. I hope that I am wrong about this.

Before this he was just lame.

By definition, he has always been a lame duck.

lame duck

1. an elected official or group of officials, as a legislator, continuing in office during the period between an election defeat and a successor's assumption of office.

2. a president who is completing a term of office and chooses not to run or is ineligible to run for reelection.

Incidentally Eclow, he vetoed one and only one bill- stem cell research.

By def #2, BillyBubba was lame-duck in 1998.

I guess one could also add a third definition (despite of the fact it doesn't work for US--but it's "worked quite well" in Canada twice; so, as a dual, I'm adding it anyway)

3 .elected official, or group thereof, continuing till a known pending crushing defeat.

Grid lock is good. I hope he buys a whole pack of veto pens.

As Mark Twain said, "No man's life, liberty, or property is safe while the legislature is in session."

Now that Congress is in session almost perpetually, our lives, liberties and property

are not safe, except for the Congress’s bureaucratic inability to get anything done.

Of course, the two examples of my Canada-specific third definition of "lame duck", the ruling party had LAME leader appointed to oversee the defeat (one retained seat and proved lame in a second election, other lost that too).

Didn't vote earlier, but now "definite" by sakurasama's def.

As to whether he was LAME before, that's really outside the glister of this poll.
