My husband and I live in Japan. We are here because of his commitment to the military. We started the CR-1 path because his next assignment is in the US in less than a year.

He might need to go on a 2-3 months of training in the US before then. We talked about the possibility of me applying for a B2 visa (which I've never done before) and staying with him. We also thought of sightseeing and going on road trips.

I am concerned with the application being futile. The current CR-1 visa application and the fact that I'm unemployed (thanks to the military lifestyle) might be sufficient to deny us a B2.

BUT... Wouldn't the fact that my husband is military, that he makes more than enough for us two, that he can't move to the US sooner (thanks to the military again) and that we have been living together for almost a year make the consulate see that I will be going back to Japan? And the fact that we will be close to the end of our CR-1 journey also make them realize there is no point of me defying immigration rules now?

Please share your wise opinions. :)

Try and find out, the PI connection is the biggest hurdle.

Yeah. I'm worried about that. I don't live in the Philippines anymore and really have no reason to be there. Do I have to prove ties to the Philippines even when I don't live there anymore? I plan to apply for a visa here in Japan, where I live with my husband.

Proof of your ties to Japan will be fine.
