This assumes the Democrats keep their current coalition forever.

That would be an assumption that flies in the face of American political history. Coalitions shift all the time.

The names might change, and the Democrats could even split, but the law makers will reflect the new desires of the citizenry.

IN other words, California is our future and it is not a secure place to be if gun rights are important to you.

If you see a new party of Reagan emerging,,,,, clue me in on where it is coming from?

I don't share your Reagan fetish, needless to say.

To me, the litmus test of all future politicians will be their commitment to freedom on the Internet. This is a powerful 'playground' and there is a huge temptation among those in power to regulate it.

Wait a minute, I threw out a doom and gloom prediction about gun rights..... you scoffed, and when I looked to you for "hope"... you talk about the internet. :crying:

Since you brought it up, I will predict the Internet will go under the knife and necessarily.

The reasons why it will get a harness are many but it's coming, in fact I am shocked we have not tied some "emergency" to taxing it more.

You did see my story posted about Iceland and the WWW?

And even if there were not a whisper of bans or confiscation, after Tx. or Fl. is Hispanic enough and the Left has those electoral votes secured (as they do in Ca.) the Left will own the whitehouse and you folks in 2013 made easy confiscation possible..... and what did you get in return?

A promise of safer streets and the warm feeling of...."we did something".

:bonk:

I have to rely on our third branch. To be honest I actually think these latest laws are a good thing. They are poorly thought out and will allow the court system to lock down 2nd amendment interpretations furthering Heller.

Yes I do. I live in an urban area with high crime.

Then you are one of the few. I still believe a gun will stop almost anything, whether you have 7 bullets or 70. I've lived in St. Louis for over 20 years and I never had a gun, I didn't feel the need to have one. Maybe it's because I grew up there and was used to the ways things were(but to be fair it wasn't as bad as it is now.) Even when I go home, I am just aware of my surroundings there is no issue.

When anyone says its wrong.

Thus far there have been many state bills that have an element of confiscation in them. So yes, logic dictates that some gun control is leading to confiscation.

Glad someone else feels that way.

It's not the guns that worry me, it's the folks that shouldn't have them that gets on my nerves. Criminals, folks that clearly have issues, and the like.

Your hope is on sinking sand.

Right now the Court is fairly split but imagine Obama appoints just 2 Justices like Sotamayor (However it's spelled)

and if the days of the GOP in the white house, are all but over.... who do you think is going to be sitting on that court?

If you value your guns, you'd better put a better plan in place than that my friend.

So I guess you need a gun, tell me where are you from again?

A gun simply provides you with options....unlike anything else.

However it is not a guarantee of anything.

I could imagine many scenarios where I would not or should not try to react with a gun but I can also imagine plenty where it would.

Defend your family as you think best and let others do the same.

A pocket knife, mace, brass knuckles, and other various self defense items give options as well.

I find it interesting that I asked where you are from you didn't give an answer. The reason I ask is, people always tend to want to be armed to the teeth in the most safest neighborhoods. Folks that live in the worst places and lose multiple family members aren't asking for more weapons or more ammo, they just want something to change: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/04/shirley-chambers-chicago-mother_n_2617473.html

I support anyone who owns a gun for sport, protection, or even competetion.

He's from somewhere near Charlotte. Jersey transplant. It is very unlikely that he lives in an urban setting. That doesn't fit the profile of Jersey people who move to the Carolinas.

As for what Su and Marvin speculated about, is'nt it possible that the same people who rely on a gun as a tool of defense are the same type person who also hold living in a safer area as a priority?

I don't see any conflict there.
