Is it possible for my wife to get tourist visa while we are waiting for the i130 since it is taking forever? I know they say she has to have a compelling reason to go back to Colombia and she would need to go back to finish all the processing and her consulate interview

It is unlikely she will get one, as she clearly has immigrant intent, but a denial won't hurt the CR-1 case, so if you have the money for the app, worth a try.

They are giving a lot more tourist visas in Colombia lately - so if you dont mind possibly losing the application fee, I would try for it. When traveling, bring proof of intent to return to Colombia. My husband has traveled on a tourist visa several times during this process (though he has had the tourist visa and used it many times before we began the process.)

Losing the application fee would be worth it.

By the way I see it, it seems that it is about 3 months from petition approval(nvc, consulate, interview etc) anyway for her to be here.

I am just not sure what proof we could provide besides the immigration application showing she needs to come back for processing

True - before we were farther along in the process, my husband showed proof of his job contract and my job contract (since I live in Colombia).

I guess at this point he would bring the NOA2 to show that we are going through the process of doing this legally and dont have any reason for him to overstay now.

It would be good to hear from someone that has actually gotten a tourist visa during this process as it may or may not be harder.

He has gone to secondary inspection, but has never actually had to show any evidence.

Maybe easier for you to visit Colombia!
