ok. but why he did so? did he mean to get u lost?

how u doing today sister?

I am good al7amdulillah... how are you, bro ?

I'm pretty sure the guy just made a mistake and it wasn't deliberate. I don't know how he got confused, though. I mean I know "Airport" could sound similar to "Irbid" - but he even asked me and I told him I was flying to Chicago. There are no flights to Chicago from Irbid ! So I dunno... I guess he just wasn't paying attention to what he was doing. But it worked out in my favor in the end - I made my flight, and I got to fly in luxury :D

I have a lot of friends in Malka. Is your husband a Malkawi? Most of my friends are Malkawis and I wonder if they know him!

I have been to Irbid several times, my husband's parents are from Malka, and much of his extended family still lives there, there are things to do downtown in Irbid at night, I didn't think it was all that bad. My husband grew up in Amman, and Amman never sleeps. We live in Manchester New Hampshire, and trust me there isn't much to do here, even during the day. My husband hasn't really made any friends here yet, he has one man that he works with who is from Turkey, and one man who works at the local gas station who is from Jordan. I keep trying to encourage him to ask them to the house, or go for coffee or something, but he hasn't yet. When he was in Jordan he spent a lot of time with his friends, and I feel guilty that he hasn't found anyone to "hang out "with here. He goes to mosque and hasn't found anyone he has any common interests with. I am hoping he finds someone soon, I am sure he is tired of staring at my face all the time, even though he says he isn't. At least when you come you will have family, my husband doesn't even have that. You will do fine I'm sure!!!

Rami,

When you arrive to Ohio, let me know. My husband can take you to meet some people for hooka.

Your thread is rockin the house now :D

Maybe that guy was like that, or maybe he really wanted to keep me in Jordan for a little longer :D

I really like Amman - it's a busy bustling city that never sleeps. I've stayed downtown a couple of times and it was non-stop noise outside all night long - traffic and cars honking, people calling out to each other and having loud conversations (which I would normally call "shouting.") I went to the Coliseum at like 10pm at night - it did not seem to close. And people there walk really fast - I was like running to keep up. I ate at Hashem's a couple times, and also had a nice dinner at al Quds restaurant - what an incredible amount of food :o it was enough to feed 4 people. Went shopping in the big souk - all at night. So anyway I understand how things would seem very, very quiet and slow and boring out there in the sticks (suburban Ohio.) I left Beavercreek as soon as I was able to, because it was boring and because I reallllllyyyyyy hate the cold.

I took pictures from all over the world, sorry from the countries I was able to visit, jordan, kuwait, dubai, saudi arabia, thailand, uk, usa, syria, iraq and egypt's sharm el sheikh.

every country has a different flavor, and people's reactions differ from even one town to another in the same country...

I think "my" Malkawis used to be another name 3 or 4 generations ago. I does seem to get a bit confusing... Are you a Malkawi now? I'm a Karasneh, which is a different village, but still the greater Irbid area. My husband never lived in his ancestor's village...always Irbid.

I miss Jordan. :(

I miss Jordan. :(

I am Zuabi. His mom and dad are cousins so it makes everything even more confusing for me, But I think I have it all figured out now...hahaha. His family in Irbid use the last name Malkawi. My husband's extended family is from Irbid, they have been there for many generations. he never lived there but we visit every chance we get. He lived in Oman until he was 17, that was when his parents moved back to Jordan, the Sweileh section of Amman.

I really miss Jordan as well. I miss the closeness of his family(my family isn't close at all), I miss his mom so very much, his aunts that live in Irbid, the nieces and nephews, the food, Amman, the warmth, the food, the smell of jasmine in the air, the crazy driving, buying shawarma at 2am, I could go on forever...I know my husband really misses it too. As soon as he gets some vacation time from work we are going to surprise his family and go for a visit, we aren't going to tell them ahead of time, we are just going to show up. Every time I have traveled to Jordan I have done it alone, it will be nice to not have to travel all that way by myself anymore.

I have been feeling guilty because my husband has been here with me now for 6 months and hasn't made any friends outside of work, he has no one to "hang out" with. The other night we went to the mall to get him a new cell phone because his died, when we were in the store there were several guys who were speaking Arabic and looked to be around his age. I asked them where they were from ,and all but one was from Jordan, not only were they from Jordan, they were from Irbid!!! They are here in the masters program at UNH. My husband then came over and introduced himself and they ended up talking for over an hour and exchanged phone numbers and addresses, they live less than a mile from us. I am so glad that he has found guy friends to hang out with. He is going to call them tonight and ask them over to watch the next Barcelona game here at the house. I am going to attempt to make Mansaf(this should be interesting), and if that fails I will throw something on he grill. Just a big relief for me that he will have some friends who he can a least watch soccer with!!!
