Hi brothers and sisters,

Yesterday i was interviewed for the an immigrant visa, i am an unmarried son of an american citizen,.and everything went fine. But at the end they took a decision to put my case on administrative processing. They gave me a white slip titeled with refusal sheet, justified by reason 221g for further AP and one missing paper which they never requested before, that is the civil status, to confirm that i am still single. which means i have to wait for a long long time. I have been in the united states for three times on a visit visa, and travelled to many many countries, uae, saudi arabisa, jordan, uk, thailand besides kuwait where my job is.

Anybody can give me a hint? How long do i have to wait? Anybody had the same experience?

They told me u can check the status online and gave another green paper with instructions, and when u see ur cas was approved, send ur passport via aranex along with missing documents.

AP in jordan was complete in 62 days, started Feb. 10th, 2013....

Seems to me that the way you qualify for this immigrant visa is to be an unmarried child of a US citizen. I'm surprised they didn't ask you for the civil status document before, but you should have expected it. Get it and submit NOW. I don't know why you would have to wait for an approval before sending the missing document in. That doesn't make any sense. I would try to contact the Embassy again if I were you for clarification.

It isn't called a civil status certificate, it is called the certificate of personal record, you get it at the civil status department in your area in Jordan, get one in English and one in Arabic, they cost 1jd for each copy, and it takes less than 5 minutes to get it. If you had gone to the US Embassy site in Amman, you would have seen that was one of the required documents, it says it in black and white, number 6 on the list, here is the link http://jordan.usembassy.gov/iv_documents_required.html Forward the documents to the embassy, and after a few days email them to make sure they received it.. You can email the IV unit in Amman, that isn't true. When my husband had AP in Amman last year I emailed them once a week for a status update, they were always more than gracious, and always answered back. Hopefully once they get the document your AP won;t last long, my husband only had it for about 9 weeks. Either way after 2 weeks start checking the AP link they gave you, if you try to check before that it won;t show up in the system. Good luck!!! AP is common in Amman

The certificate is a new requirement for the embassy in Amman, it is called the certificate of personal record, it is obtained at the civil status department(I think the OP is confused about the name of it, they told him to get it at the civil status department) I know when we were still at the USCIS stage it wasn;t a requirement because when I was in Jordan after I sent the I-130, I was gathering all the documents for the NVC and I checked the US Embassy Amman site every day to make sure I was bringing back everything we needed. After returning to the US, the day I was scanning everything to send to the NVC via email(amman has electronic processing), I noticed the addition of the cert. of personal record. I was like ####### is this mad.gif When I called the NVC to ask about it, they weren't even aware of the new requirement for the certificate, and told me not to send it to them. I took it upon myself to get the certificate and bring it to the interview with us. I was just one of those people who wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything so I checked the site million times to make sure.Unless people look at the actual site for Amman they would have no clue they are required to have it. A lot of people make the mistake of only checking the list on the main site for immigrant visas, and never check their home country specific lists. Many people who have gone through Amman after us I have told to make sure they get the certificate as it is a new requirement, and to make sure they check the US Embassy Amman list for new updates. Either way my hubby still got AP, but at least it didn't last very long , and it wasn't because we were missing anythingkicking.gif. So the moral of the story is to check and recheck the list for your home country.

Hi

I managed to get in english, is arabic a must? With translation?

The guy said: send it along with the passport via ARAMEX when ur case is complete.

Do i send it alone? Do i have to attach anything to it so that they can match it to my case file?

Thanks

Do you send what alone? The certificate? I do not know if Arabic is a must, we played it safe and brought English and Arabic to the interview. If you are unsure email the IV unit and ask, make sure you put your case number in the subject line, along with your name and date of birth in the body of the email, or they won,'t answer. Anything you send to the embassy send with your name, DOB and case case number beginning with AMM and they will be able to match it. The only thing my husband had to send was his passport when his AP was complete and he sent it with a note with his name DOB and case number. When you go to Aramex they have the address for the Aramex office at the embassy. Good luck.

One more question came across my my mind:

is there any post, in this forum or another, were people track their APs, like a schedule or a record?

So we can gather little info from their experiences.

Thx n advance

Not that I am aware of. You can always call the dept of state for updates. The only site we tracked was the one the Amman consulate gave us.
