I know I've seen it on here somewhere, but what's the phone number for checking case status at Department of State?

Also, what would be different between calling them and calling NVC? Or.. why would someone call DOS vs calling NVC?

Because DOS often has more detailed information and is more willing to give you information on your case.

When your spousal or fiance petition is sitting in the NVC.

$s and get interview some get from NVC .

When calling press 1 than 0.

U can call anytime u want.

8:30AM-5:00PM Monday-Friday according to their automated message. Dunno what time zone.

I believe if NVC has not entered the case in to their system , DOS won't be able to see that it reached NVC yet. I called DOS this morning and I was told that my case has not been forwarded to NVC from USCIS yet, but when I called NVC, they said you case is here we jst have not entered it into our system yet...
