Medical Question for Santo Domingo

This is a pickle.

Ok, so, I filed a K-1 visa and we were approved at the interview. Now, we are waiting for her medical results. The consultorios de visa is holding us hostage to a surgery she had when she was a baby. She shows absolutely no symptoms of TB, she has a healthy 4 month old baby (whom I miss demasiado), and I would have TB if she had it because I visit very frequently. During her medical exam, they forgot (or chose not to) give her the TB skin test, a TB rapid blood test, or a urine screening (which I think means drug test). Her X-Rays show a small scar on the side of her lungs because she needed a breething tube put in her side during a procedure she underwent when she was 1 years old. They want to run a Sputum Culture which can take 4-6 weeks to run, but for this clinic it takes 8-9 weeks. The Embassy does not know that we even did our medical. Nothing has been sent to them yet by consultarios de visa, even preliminary results. We were issued a document and her passport which reads that we are approved at our interview, now we just need the medical results.

I want to know if there is anything that can be done or if we need to do something (ie. make sure the Embassy knows we are waiting on the 8 week test). We did the just as accurate Sputum Rapid Test (4 days) and her TB results are negative. We also did a drug test which also demonstrates that she would pass her drug screening. Was the clinic supposed to send the first round of results while waiting for the second? What do you think about the state of our visa? I do not want to have to start this process over if someone messed up somewhere.

Oh yeah, they called her back the day after the interview for the urine test (hence why we did that one as well)...

Is it just me or is it very difficult to fathem that, if the clinic messes up on the TB test, then my fiance could be put on months worth of TB antibiotics unnecessarily?

In the US, we are taught to always get a second opinion, especially if your symptoms do not match up with the diagnosis... I hate that we cannot get a second opinion here too...

Sorry for the bombardment of questions. But, since we were already approved for everything (including the affidavit of support), does that mean I can quit my job and wait this out with her and my baby? I used to care very much about money, but this process has really changed my mind. There ARE more important things in life. (Like being able to be with your loved ones)

I think my job is tired of all the waiting also, so it might be best for everyone involved!

There is nothing you can really do but wait it out for the tests to be done. If they say something on the x-ray they have to rule out TB just in case. You have up to a year from the date of your interview to submit any information that the Consulate has requested. So everything is fine, now you just have to play the waiting game. Also expect to wait about a month after the Consulate receives all of the information they need to receive the visa in hand.

As far as the Affidavit of Support that only got you this far. You will still need to do another one for the Adjustment of Status, so unless you have a co-sponsor quitting your job now maybe not be a good thing to do. But if you do, by all means do what you think is best for you and your family.

Best of luck too you!

Why a whole month? We passed our interview and it usually takes 5-6 business days for a visa to be delivered by DOMEX.

Only going by what I have seen and those that have had to submit anything after the interview was done, even if they were approved during the interview. It took 3 weeks to a month after the information was submitted to the Consulate before they received the visa in hand. Now that is not to say that it couldn't happen sooner, it all depends on how fast they work on it.

I would contact the Consulate as well to let them know what you are waiting on just so they know.
