Hello everyone,

Does anyone know exactly how to send DS 157 and DS 156 by mail or email (Madrid Embassy) , it's a little confusing in directions, its saying to fill out the forms online which we did, and to send in duplicate, but to not sign the attached DS 156 . Does that mean the other forms are to be signed that are printed online and do all the forms then get sent to Embassy, before packet # 4. Hope this question is not to confusing . Thanks so much!

Hmm when I was going through the K1 Visa process this last September I had to bring these forms with me to the interview, not to send them... not sure if you misunderstood the instructions, or they've changed the procedures. In any case, they require original signatures so you'll need to fill them up online, print them out in duplicate, and sign all of the forms EXCEPTING the one they specify not to sign.

If you indeed have to send them back together with the checklist, I guess you could mail them.

Thank You!!! I contacted them via email and they informed me that the forms have to be mailed with the checklist. Hope this helps someone in the future smile.gif

This is really helpful. I got Packet 3 a few days ago and had the same concerns. I think someone should update Madrid's consulate info with these details. I'm happy to do this once I complete the process.

For further reference, I'm going to summarize what seem to be the changes:

Packet 3 instructions with document version "MDD:CONS/IVSep12" at the bottom states a few points to follow. In theory, this is how I understand the flow of information should be, updated with the clarification in this thread:

(1): Fill in and send DS-230 Part I Biographic data. ("Complete y envíe inmediatamente... DS-230 I")

(2): Fill in and send in duplicate forms DS-156, DS-156K and DS-157. ("Rellene y envíe, por duplicado, ... DS-156... DS-157... DS-156K")

(3): Sign "checklist" and send to have appointment scheduled. ("firme, ponga la fecha y devuelva este formulario...")

Take the rest (police records, birth certificate, etc) to interview in person.

Now, how you pack 1, 2 and 3 I believe it's up to you. You could send all of them together or one by one. The important thing here is that (3) states that you have all the documentation ready and are ready for the interview yourself.

I think it's interesting Mrs.Him did not have to do it this way in September 2012. I get the feeling you could do it either way and it would be fine (just send DS-230 + checklist or send the 4 DS-* forms + checklist).

Some input from other sources would be helpful too.
