I was just going over my wife's AOS interview appointment letter. In the list of required documents, one of the item is her birth certificate. I have sent in her birth white book with the AOS application, we don't have any more of her birth white books. Do i still have to bring a copy of it to the interview if i have already submitted it during the application process?? Her interview is coming up on the 28th of this month, i don't think we have enough time to get another white book.

Advices?

OUCH !

I believe that I sent in scanned photocopies of my wife and stepson's birth White Books with their AOS applications, and had the originals available at the AOS interview available for inspection by the IO. You may be okay, they had our complete file/apps/etc. at the AOS interview (so, they should already have the original White Book you submitted), and didn't ask to see the original White Books I brought along. I was asked to fill out another G-325A for myself (weird request). He did ask for all of our passports, which I provided (and also color photocopies of all pages).

I took every scrap of paper/document that I had accumulated along this immigration journey. He didn't ask for much, but I was prepared. Prior to the AOS interview, we took nightly photos of our family at the dinner table. We were asked for them and we were glad that we brought them along.

I would get the ball rolling on getting some more of her White Books prepared in China and expressed to you. We have been asked to provide them for inspection to various government officials.

HTH,

Good luck!

will i get any answers by calling into USCIS, instead of going in for infopass? The reason i ask is because the nearest field office is 3 hour drive away(detroit), i'd rather not make that trip.

thanks

ok, so i called USCIS once already, and have an agent tell me it's ok, just go into the interview, and tell the interviewer that the birth white book is with the original application already.

I wrote down this agent's name and id number, will try calling later again to get confirmation from another agent.

if you really are pegged for an interview, adjusting from a K-1 visa,

tell the interviewer that the birth certificate is in the A-file - and

please to pull the A-File and let's look at it - and

while yer at it - let's make 2 copies of it - and give me the original back, keep a copy in the A-file, and give me that 2nd copy.

I suggest you do that, as apparently you missed putting in the original and a copy at the interview - if you did that, you'd have the original back on interview day at GUZ.

Good Luck !
