Hi, all. I'm trying to figure out when my fiancee should get her vaccinations but am a bit confused about the timeline.

First off, on the travel.state.gov site it states, "Contact one of the designated physicians to arrange your medical exam. Explain that the examination is for an immigrant visa application and give the physician the date of the interview appointment." (link) So it sounds like you can't actually get the shots until you have the interview appointment.

I am primarily concerned with the shots delaying her interview appointment in any way. Though I have read people say the shots are not necessary for the K1 interview, others say it is. I know the vaccinations will be required later for AOS, and that they are only valid for a year.

My question is, has any one experienced any complications with the timing of the shots?

If this may help, I'm planning on getting mine done once NOA2 is approved.

I did have all of them done before, however I can not find my vaccinations record, so I think the only way for me is to get them all re-done!

the med exam report is needed for the interview and at that time the doctor will advise if missing anything. fyi sveta and I talked to an ins approved doctor here last thursday she stated the flu vac is needed for adjustment of status. as a rule the adjustment of status vacs are cheaper in other countries and before you leave clinic make sure to receive copy of all pages. as in our case the medical i-693 page was lost after poe also remember the med exam is good for 12 months and should you need any vacs after in usa PLEASE shop around as most doctors I find wanted do the whole exam and shots again. as if they not care what the exam records stated yes a money scam imo. here locally the fee started at 150.00 plus cost of shots ie. mmr would be add 75.00, flu 25.00 and so on good luck and make sure your wife to be tells doctor she wants vac need for aos including flu

also this is if need the exam in usa should you get an rfe ( Contact one of the designated physicians to arrange your medical exam ) the embassy website will advise where in china for medical

clem if you have your vac records call and/or fax to a approved doctor and ask for fee of what is needed to make sure if you are current they not give again and lower your cost

Agree with others.

as to the timing, most beneficiaries get the shots done at the medical exam.

Some people try to get it done elsewhere, prior.

The thing that matters is that a shot record is made.

Suggest while yer lass is getting her shots done at the medical, she pay for an additional shot record, a yellow book, international record of immunizations. it won't go into the medical packet - it's hers to keep.

Having that extra shot record is useful when a civil surgeon in the USA is transcribing data into the I-693.

If she gets a job working with children in the USA, for example, she'll need to show her shot record at some point - having this extra set is useful.

forgot one thing -

although there is this longish list of vaccinations - note that some of them are 'age-restricted' or 'age-appropriate'. The staff at the clinic in Guangzhou, for example, know what's what on the age-appropriate stuff.
