I sent my husband a copy of absolutely everything, even though the embassy should already have had everything. Right down to the support paperwork, birth certificates, proof of relationship. I used the "If it fits it ships" postage from the USPS which helps with cost and gets it there in about 5 business days.

Make sure he brings his medical exam, passport photos and passport of course, but also make sure he has a new updated copy of his police record along with the certified translation. He also needs to bring the email/paper that shows the confirmation of his interview appointment.

Sorry I just have a question...you said you sent your fiancee everything via USPS? I was told not to send anything via USPS but DHL. I was told if I send stuff through the postal service if most likely will not reach him. Did you experience any problems sending things using USPS?

I used USPS for everything and never once had a problem. They should use DHL coming this way though.

Thanks for your reply. Very helpful. Using USPS would be so much easier for me so I am glad to hear it will still reach him. I was worried he would never receive it if i sent it USPS.

My fiance is in algeria, I will not be with him during the interview as I am very very far away, what things should he bring to the interview that I'd have to send him in advance?

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

bring pictures, letters, phone records and be prepared if he has the female agent, she is very rude! Keep in mind he will not automatically get his visa, because he wil have to go through a mandatory Adminstrative Processing, as my fiancee is ( required for those citizens who live in the 26 Terrorist countries) My fiancee has been waiting 65 days and counting for his case to be moved from AP stage.

...."mandatory Adminstrative Processing, as my fiancee is ( required for those citizens who live in the 26 Terrorist countries)" In response to this, I do know that it is good to go into your interview knowing it is likely that administrative processing will occur if you are from the MENA countries however my husband (fiance) did not recieve it. So to say Mandatory if you are from a "terrorist country" isnt completely accurate all the time.

We also used the USPS to mail most of our papers back and forth. Good Luck with everything.

Yes it was, and the agent during the interview told him it could be another 60-120 days before he will be approved. The Department of State told me to keep calling back every day after 60 days to see if his case has been approved. Teh reason why he went into Administrative processing for the extra security check is because of the fact he is from Algeria, male in his 20s and has a muslim sounding name. That is what my Senator told me when I wrote to him seeking answers.

It has been 8 months and counting since we filed our paperwork and we hired an immigration lawyer. Must have lots of patience because it is hurry up and wait

Certain countries process faster and go through the checks faster, however some of those MENA countries such as ALgeria tend to take longer in the process and I have friends from Morocco whose visa's were approved faster.

The Department of State as well as my Senator told me that Algeria tends to take longer
