hi jokalu,

i noticed you're in the NYC area, so i'll share what i've found from communicating with other VJer's from our region. although brooklyn and queens residents are processed VERY quickly, manhattan, the bronx, and some suburbs take much,much longer. for example look at cereza, also among march filers, who has been waiting even longer than you. in the january 2013 filers thread, 2 NYC applicants only just got interview letters last week! after reviewing more NYC timelines posted on another tracking website (trackitt), we found that with the exception of super-quick brooklyn and queens cases, most other NYC and area applications take 3.5-4 months since being put in line for an interview letter to arrive.

by all means, try calling or making an infopass appointment. i just wanted to share this to let you know that there is most likely nothing wrong with your case. if you read posts a few weeks back in the january thread, you'll see some of the cases i mentioned (one of the NYers in question is dramaqueen81, the other andy_bronx, i think). it sucks that we have to wait so much longer than others, but this is, sadly, "normal". there is little we can do in this process; there just seems to be a massive backlog for parts of our region.

i hope this helps to calm your nerves a little; remember that a lot of us in / around NYC are going through this same looong process, even though fellow applicants in other parts of the country (or city, ahem, brooklyn...) have a faster turnaround.

ps. just to clarify, i actually sent messages to a few VJers whose timelines state "new york, ny" asking about their borough and found that ALL whose cases took just 3-4 months from start to finish were residents of brooklyn or queens. on the other hand, bronx, manhattan, and northern suburbs seem to take more like 7+ months in all. at least now i know that i have a long wait ahead and timelines stating "new york, ny" will differ quite dramatically.

OMG well im living up state ( middletonw ny) so thats why im they took so long for process my case even the trip to the Bronx is hard to me to do the bio, the good part is now i know that im not alone....well personally i don have any rush, but i dont understand why allways this process make my head crazy.. Anyway i apreciate so much the info...thanks

Congratulations to everyone who passed their interviews. My husband passed his on July 9th though we were there for almost 5 hours. Nothing went wrong with us, but they scheduled a lot of interviews that day and they had an oath ceremony at 2. Those individuals who had their interview in the morning were allowed to participate in the oath ceremony that day. I am sort of glad he was not in the morning because I wanted our sons to attend. My husband's appointment was scheduled at 12:15, but he was not seen until 1:23. I must admit it was a great yet tiring experience. It was my first time going to the USCIS (ATL) office because we never had to go for a couples interview, and there was no need to go to Biometric appointment, and to my understanding it is in a different location. After his interview they made us wait for his oath letter, which took 2 hours, and he will have his ceremony on July 31st at 8:00. What a perfect time because our 3 year old and 1 year old will be on their best behavior...smile!!! I cannot believe this journey is almost over...sigh...what an amazing one at that!!!! Best wishes to all!!!

My oath.ceremony was June 29 in Schenectady. What a beautiful ceremony with people of all cultures and countries. I wanted to hear all their stories and see their native dress (some wore it) and hear their language. People from other cultures bring so much and imagine how they must feel to become part of the US!

It was bittersweet for me. I was so excited and I felt it was an important day but 2 weeks before my US husband walked out on me. I was scared I would no longer qualify but it has to be a legal separation or divorce so aside from the obvious stress and sadness I was happy to still have my ceremony.

My sister-in-law came with me. She is more of a sister than an in law and she has been there for me. She made it special with gifts and bubbles!

That same day I took my certificate to the passport office. They said they had to mail the original. Lucky they had a photocopier I could pay to use so I could keep a copy. I had to sign it first!

The passport cost me $35 for the county processing fee and $110 for the passport. It showed up on July 11!!! So fast! And the next day my oath certificate was also returned. I am fully done!!

I thought some people might be interested in how long the passport took. This was in warren county where I applied.

Good luck to the rest of you. I guess I'm now going to be a single American but that's fine with me, being happy is the main thing. :-)

Congrats to the newest US citizens.

I received the "In Line" email on Friday. Can you update the table?

I am so stressed about this whole process. It's been more than 4 months since I started my process. It's too much in my opinion.

When can I expect the letter with the interview date?

Folks. I just became a citizen today. beautiful ceremony with 370 people.

Please update my status and Goodluck to all of you. Visa journey has been instrumental for 2 yr GC, to 10 yr GC to Citizenship. God bless you all.

just finished the interview at Holtville center,NY...my schedule was 8 AM...arrived at 6.40 AM.

the door was opened at 6.45AM...waited until 8.15 AM..The interview was done in 14 min.

The IO was a nice guy...he asked for my green card and passport....he checked the green card number and went through my 3 passport very fast (I was worried if he would noticed that I missed to write some trips out side the USA) ......then he returned them and told me he would start the test.

first he give me a paper and ask me to read " who was Abraham Loncoln?" and write " Thanksgiving is in November".

after that he turned to his computer and asked me the civil test question...."what do we call the first tenamendment", what is the name of the speaker of the house?",What do we show royalty to..?","name one of two longest river?", "who lived in America before the wuropean arrived?", when was the declaration of independence adopted?"

I got all 6 right...he went throught my application and there were some small mistakes such as I wrote day/month/yr instead of month/day/yr...didn't put "0" for number of children etc...he said it's a small mistake which won't effect the application then ask me to sign the paper

he gave me the interview results paper says I passed the tests but I have to wait 4-6 weeks for the letter to tell me when my Oath ceremony will be at Central islip.

Have to wait at least 4-6 weeks before I can declare I am American citizen. ^^"
