"On May 8, 2013, we placed your application in the oath scheduling que. We will send a notice when the ceremony is scheduled. If you move prior to the scheduled ceremony, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283."

Congratulations Triniiphone!

Just curious, did you apply in the 90 days period before your 5 year anniversary or after your 5 year anniversary?

hi guys,

dropping in with a quick question. For those of you who received your green card through your spouse, does your spouse plan to go with you to the naturalization interview? I don't think it's necessary because the spouse isn't even allowed to go into the interview room. But from what I've seen on some of the forums people do take their spouses. One woman even said that she went without her husband and her particular IO asked her, "Where is your husband?" Strange, because the husband isn't interviewed. I guess I'm not sure why my spouse needs to go with me if he isn't allowed in the interview room. Anyhoo, just as a safety precaution, I've given my hubby the heads up that we'll need to go together, so he plans to take the day off to accompany me. Any thoughts?

Good question. I just assumed it was required so I told my husband he would also need to take the day off from work to accompany me. I wonder if it is indeed mandatory.

My spouse just had his naturalization interview on Monday and was approved (his oath ceremony is next week). I am a teacher and could not take that day off due to federal testing. I was a bit nervous that my absence would affect my husband's interview, even though I knew I wouldn't be allowed to go into the interview room. My husband said the IO never even asked about me (as in "where is your wife?"), and it was not an issue at all.

Each case and each office (not to mention each IO) may be different but at least in our case, my presence was not necessary at all. :)

thanks mandixon, im surprised mine is moving so quickly

Yes, that's right. You are one of the lucky ones. My K1 process was one of the fastest. But my N-400 might be a long process as I have a complicated case (long absences from USA). We will see. I am scheduled to be interviewed in less than 3 months. We will see!

If you can't change your mind, are you sure you still have one?

I received a yellow letter today.

Just in case people here are curious, USCIS is requesting more documents to be brought to the interview. Nothing is surprising or unexpcetd though. This is what they want (marriage based application):

1-Driver's lisense or state-issued ID

2-Tax transcripts (1722 letter) showing our tax record for the past three years.

3-Evidence of residence (utility bills, lease or mortgage payment, tax return transcript etc etc).

If you can't change your mind, are you sure you still have one?

My spouse isnt coming with me! People say that it shows that your spouse is supportive etc etc...There is no legal impact of a spouse's presense or absense. It might have a psychological impact, especially if the case has some red flags that might involve the US spouse.

It is totally optional, so my spouse will not come. I know people in person who didnt take their spouses and nobody even noticed or asked.

If you can't change your mind, are you sure you still have one?
