Palestinian textbooks don't demonize Jews or Israel

Not insisting that you agree with anything. I made the point both your OP and your attempt to respond by using a separate study without using the full results of the study your OP points to a new era in Palestinian disinformation dissemination. I suppose that is a natural progression of the sophistication in the Palestinian movement.

If you and Sandi want some indication of my criticism of the OP study the first issue is that it apparently did not acknowledge how many of the Palestinian textbooks, if any, came from Hamas controlled Gaza but it did separate Orthodox Jewish schools textbooks from regular Jewish schools.

Oops, looks like someone didn't take a look at the actual study they've got all kinds of criticisms of. Pages 5,6,7,8 of said study lay it all out.

This textbook stuff and its history are just surreal. This is from five damn years ago, but holy #######.

And of course there’s a much bigger issue arising out of the historical background to Palestinian education, that blows a hole in the “Palestinians are inciting hatred in the books they use to teach their children”. And it’s this: Where did the PA get the Egyptian and Jordanian schoolbooks that allegedly instill anti-semitism in their schoolchildren? Well, indirectly of course they got them from Egypt and Jordan, but those two countries haven’t had any responsibility for Palestinian education since Israel took over the Occupied Territories in 1967. The PA actually inherited the Jordanian and Egyptian books that are being used now to attack the Palestinians for incitement from the Israelis, who were responsible for education in Palestinian areas from 1967 to 1993. If there are anti-Semitic books in Palestinian schools left over from the Egyptian and Jordanian period, it is because Israel was content for them to be used to educate Palestinian children during the 26 years that the Israelis ran Palestinian schools. So apparently, these books are anti-Semitic enough for the Israeli Right and certain U.S. Senators to use as a stick to beat the Palestinians in the post-Oslo period, but they weren’t anti-Semitic enough for Israel to stop their use in Palestinian schools in the pre-Oslo period! Are you sure you wanted to lend your good name to a partisan campaign that gets as stupid as this?

And just when you think it can get any more absurd, of course it does. Consider this interesting snippet from Ha’aretz - Reading, Writing - and Propaganda - that considers the use of old Jordanian text books in PA schools:

Prof. Nathan Brown, from George Washington University, a former adviser to the U.S. Agency for International Development, noted an odd phenomenon in his study of the Palestinian curriculum (November 2001). He found that even though the PA's National Education books for grades 1-6 were "devoid of any anti-Semitic or anti-Israeli material," Israel "allowed the offensive Jordanian books to be used in the East Jerusalem schools but barred the innocuous PA-authored books, probably fearful that use of the PA books would be an implicit recognition of sovereignty."

Can you see what that is saying, Senator? Palestinian students in East Jerusalem are still being taught from old Jordanian schoolbooks that incite hatred, even when a new, innocuous and inoffensive Palestinian textbook is available instead, simply because Israel is concerned that the use of a PA textbook implies that Arab East Jerusalem is occupied territory to which the Palestinians have a claim of sovereignty. Are you appalled that Palestinian children continue to be taught hatred and racial incitement just so that Israel can make a political point? Will you be whisking off an outraged letter to the President about Israel's "hateful, anti-Israeli rhetoric"? I'm guessing not.

What's really fascinating is Israel's reaction to all this. If you didn't know any better, you'd think the Israeli government would be relieved or happy about it - hey, isn't it a good thing that Palestinians don't teach their kids to hate Jews ? We've been putting over peace over a needless concern, and now we can get ourselves back to the negotiating table!

Instead, the official reaction is one of extreme irritation. This should be a clue to anyone how important the meme was in Israel's overall strategy - to stall final negotiations long enough for it to finish taking the rest of the West Bank.

Pallywood: Palestine caught faking 'Israeli attacks' with actors and staging

http://palestineisra...rs-and-staging/

Do you still believe the present-day manner of news broadcasting ? Then all your hopes will be deceived.

Here's some footage you don't see on regular TV. Note the Palestinian way of lying and deceiving the rest of the world, even including the Palestinian population itself. The staging of fabricated Israeli aggression and unprovoked attacks was discovered by chance by a pro-Palestine French TV team who intended to make a documentary on Palestine victims of Israeli aggression. They changed their mind after witnessing the many fake reports given to them and began to investigate some of the claimed attacks.

Former Hamas members have complained that they left Hamas because they witnessed Hamas murder their own people on regular basis. Hamas would sometimes murder Palestinians and arrange press photography to claim these were Israeli attacks. They further witnessed Palestine stage and fake exaggerated number of Israeli attacks and Palestinian dead than what is actual numbers.

May I introduce to you; the most advanced, believable, stunning, pitiable and thrilling world of Palliwood!

What's hilarious is that you have no clue who or what you're quoting, and actually think it's something credible. Sandi is right - you're wearing clown shoes.

“Pallywood” is the fabrication of Richard Landes, who is yet another ultra-right-wing Zionist and Islamophobic hatemonger. His academic background is actually in medieval history - he is an associate professor of at Boston University, specializing in Millennialism.

Landes has been involved with a series of pro-Israel, anti-Palestinian/anti-Islam projects. In his self-produced "Pallywood" videos, Landes claims that Palestinians inflate the number of their people killed and wounded by Israeli forces for “propaganda purposes,” and actually stage “fake” events just to make Israel look bad, which are then videotaped and then broadcast as “real” events. Landes provides no supporting evidence for his claims - only his own carefully edited sequences accompanied by his own opinions, which he somberly recites in the voice-over. As if Palestinians weren’t already suffering ongoing assaults by air and land, assassinations, kidnappings, home invasions, blockades, seizures of property, whole-scale destruction of houses, schools, hospitals, businesses and croplands, and all sorts of other “interruptions” from Israeli occupation forces every single day, and would have to "make something up." What a nitwit.

One of Landes’ other favorite memes is the claim that Palestinians teach their children “unbridled hatred toward Israelis” - a tired old Zio talking point which has been debunked yet again in the report discussed in the OP.

He insists that Western journalists, scholars and politicians are “anti-Israel” and misinform the public about the “dangers of Islam,” thus putting “modern democratic culture” at risk. He claims that the mainstream media in the US spends too much time reporting “unfairly against Israel” in regard to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, instead of doing what he thinks they should be doing - worrying about “creeping Islamism” and “Global Jihad.”

At a British conference on anti-Semitism, Landes insinuated that “every mosque and halal butcher” is part of a global Islamist conspiracy to enslave mankind.

He finds Jewish people who criticize Israel for any reason to be especially annoying, and he dismisses them as “self-hating Jews.”

Landes apparently has a lot of time of his hands, as he operates and blogs at a surprising number of websites dedicated to pushing those key themes over and over and over. He was heavily involved in the smear attacks on Richard Goldstone after his report on Israel’s actions in Gaza during Cast Lead - Landes started up yet another website just to rag on Goldstone.

So he follows the Pamela Geller pattern in many ways.

One more time, read this slowly. My criticism has been based on failure to mention that Israeli textbooks were cleared in the OP. Then in response to pointing out that oversight, an older study was used to claim that Israeli textbooks do demonize Palestinians.

Clearly one study was wrong if they came to opposite conclusions, right?

That is the criticism. I have not read the report in the OP. My criticism of this thread is not dependant on having read the report.

Well, you're evidently not aware of much about the people you keeping citing as sources. There's a reason no credible news organization will touch the type of material you keep posting...

How can something be "failed to be mentioned" when it's right there in the OP you yourself keep referring to ? Try reading more slowly yourself - or even reading at all (specifically, before opining on studies you haven't bothered to read, either.)

The joke was on you when you thought posting "Pallywood by Richard Landes" was any kind of response to the topic.
