This was the second time we ask for help and expedite our case, yesterday the secretary of the congressman called my husband and said they are still doing security check and they cannot give additional info. Well, this was the exact words they told the first congressman we asked for help.. I guess I should just wait for nothing and feel hopeless forever..? I dont know what to do anymore :crying:

Teague, I'm so sorry, baby. (hug)

Evidently you or your husband showed up as having the same name as someone the FBI are concerned about and they are not convinced yet that you are not that person. I read that the initial check is quick, but if there is a "hit" the secondary check can be very slow because they have to verify all information by hand, looking at multiple databases and lists. Since your case is unusually delayed, it may be that the USC has the same name and birthdate and/or birthplace as someone convicted as a sex offender against children (such people cannot be petitioners) or the non-USC has the same name and age or other data as someone convicted of a serious crime, including terrorism. I was worried that we would be stuck in this stage because my husband has the same name as someone else in his town convicted of a rape and murder, and someone else in his country who made the news spectacularly a few years ago for some murder or other. But his name is fairly common and the checks in the UK are fairly sophisticated, I guess.

There is nothing you can do to help this along but to be innocent and wait. A few years ago such cases backed up in the system so badly that the US government forced them to do something about it, but that was a few years ago. At least it does explain why it's taking SO long. Please keep us updated.

I'm a dual US/Hungarian citizen (both by birth; Hungarian citizenship verification TBA), and my husband is a dual British/Irish citizen (by treaty) from Northern Ireland. We are atheists.

All advice is given pursuant to the Disclaimer that you may read at the bottom of each forum page.

LATEST STEPS:

28 Jun 2013: POE Houston

08 Jul 2013: SSN received (at SSA office)

07 Aug 2013: Green Card received

27 Feb 2014: Whoa, life happened. Planning move "back home" together to Republic of Ireland by end of April.

29 Apr 2014: POE Dublin through Heathrow

15 May 2014: Received formal residency/work permission (GNIB card with Stamp 4, one year renewable) for the ROI

I will keep you updated.. Thanks for all that information, somehow it makes my heart not feel bad too much. But I am always praying and I know when I past this phase in my life I will look back and laugh about all this immigration stuff.. Thanks again!

Well, you do not have to worry that it was something that YOU did or didn't do! You are always so positive. Keep holding on to positive thoughts. :)

I just want to add to "hang in there" which I know you hear all the time. I can't pretend to know how you feel as I have been very fortunate to fly through the process but I want to commend you for your patience! It WILL come through once all of this is taken care of. And when you're finally together, none of this will matter any more and the pain of the wait will become a distant memory eventually! You will have each other in the same place and once that happens... nothing else will matter!

Keep being strong!!

Hi sis! So it's nothing again. I feel your distress sis. My case is worst than you are. I am on the 16th month in torment waiting for any news, whether it is good or bad. Makes me wonder sis if how many unfortunate Filipinas like us here in VJ. I can't help but to feel sorry for myself sis hearing other friends that are already in the US with there husband when we submitted our papers at least 1 year ahead of them. Why do we are punished like this. And on top of that, USCIS can not give us clear explanations about the papers.

I-130 Submitted ---- 09/16/2011

NOA 1 ---- 09/21/2011

I-130 Approved ------ 04/30/2013

NVC Case Number -- 05/14/2013

Medical Exam ------ 05/28/2013

Case Complete ------- 08/06/2013

Interview -------- 09/09/2013

Visa Arrived ---------- 10/17/2013

POE SFO ------------- 10/21/2013

Delays maybe inevitable, but misery is optional!
