I-864a question

Hello fellow VJ members! I desperately need your expertise.

Today my wife had her CR1 interview in Ciudad Juarez and unfortunately her visa was not granted. They gave her a slip that requested additional documents. Here are the details. I submitted an I-864 for my wife, but my income was not enough, so I submitted an I-864a with my sisters income (but that was incorrect as my sister is married). They told my wife the following:

Sister needs to file the I-864 as a joint sponsor, and that her husband needs to complete the I-864a (as both incomes are needed to meet the poverty guidelines).

So my question is this: On the I-864 a, it asks for the relationship. The wording is the following:

***************I'm not the intending immigrant, I am the sponsors household member. I am related to the sponsor as his/her:**********************

This is were I'm confused. What would be the relationship? Are they talking about the Co-Sponsors relationship to the Sponsor (His wife....my sister) or ME (since I'm also a sponsor)?

So do I check off: Spouse OR do I check off OTHER: and type BROTHER IN LAW.

THANKS A LOT!!!

The I-864A is a contract between the household member filling out that form and the sponsor filling out the I-864 it is connected to. In your case that would be the joint sponsor's I-864. His wife's. Check Spouse.
