I want to move to America.

I'm a Canadian, but my girlfriend of seven years is American. Hanging out in person only twice a year is getting old and heartbreaking, so I was wondering what exactly I have to do to be eligible to live, work, go to school there, etc. It seems hopeless. I'm currently graduated from high school and my job searching since then has been dreadful. It doesn't look like any visas cover this sort of thing. I have friends in the area I can room with. Marriage is not an option at this point in time.

There really isn't anything I can do, is there? What exactly is a ten-year tourist visa, though, and are Canadians eligible for them?

A ten yr visa does not allow you to go live there 10 yrs, I allows you to visit and dpend given at POE then go home for

a ten yr period , mess it up and you will be denied entry the next time you try to go back. You are young keep visiting

maybe you all can hang out sometimes at Niagra on either side.No need to rush into marriage

Marriage is your only option through your girlfriend. There is no boyfriend green card.

A 10 years tourist visa is not a visa that lets you either live or wirk in the US. It allows you over a 10 years period to come visit he US for short period o time. Essentially, your 2-3 times a year visit. You cannot live in the U with a 10 years tousist visa. You cannot work in the US with. 10 years tourist visa.

With a high school education, you will not qualify for a work visa.

No marriage, no immigration.

At this point, you have two visa options:

- marriage

- Student visa (easy to get, but cannot work outside campus and need to show you can support yourself/ pay college fees.

For a work visa, even for Canadians, you need experience or qualifications and at this point, you have neither. If neither of the above is an option, you might look into going to college in Canada and choosing one which does an exchange year in the USA.

There is not boyfriend/girlfriend visas

You may apply for a student visa but it is grossly expensive and you cannot work off campus.

You may get married, but obviously that is not an option, as you stated

You may try for a work visa, but it is unlikely to get one with your lack of experience and education. If you improve one of those you might be eligible for a TN visa

You are VERY unlikely to be grated a 10 year tourist visa as a Canadian with little education and no job.

good luck
