Being that I made a different choice than you - 21, in the process of a divorce, and still in uni, I'm wondering why we made different choices? I've had several miscarriages as well that had they been successful, I would have carried to term even when I was pro-choice and perfectly fine with abortion as a concept.

you asserted that women who made the decision to have an abortion are weak and will be justly punished by the universe. maven already told us why she came to the decision that she did - you don't want to accept that, because it isn't the decision you made.

my best friend had an abortion right after giving birth to her first son at seventeen. she was in a horrible, miserable, place. she didn't have a friend in the world. couldn't tell what little family she had. and because i was too naive and immature and stuck in right to life baptist dogma - i was not there for her. i watched her cry for days on end, her eyes so swollen they wouldn't open. i withheld my friendship as punishment - in attempt to manipulate her decision. it didn't work. i was only successful in causing more pain to a severely painful situation.

i sincerely hope that the charities you're involved in focus on the women themselves and not on emotionally manipulating women, to achieve the desired outcome.

I accept it, but I don't understand it. Personal feelings aside, I am actually interested in why people in similar situations make different choices.

I'm sorry that your friend went through that. :(

I know the organizations to which you speak, probably something along the lines of Birthright, yes? Personally, I think misinformation from either side is not helpful at all. What I do is more attempting to find grants to stay in school for daycare, getting free nursery furniture, and providing support. Sometimes all people need is someone in their corner. I've been pressured before to get an abortion and I was judged for not getting one because I was still in school, so I know how that goes. I had so much love and support from my family and my neighbors that I wish every woman could have that. It was very unexpected because I had moved 1800 miles away to a new place when I was pregnant, but it was very much appreciated.

Perhaps what I said before was harsh and sometimes we say things on the internet that are harsher than we would say in person. That is certainly true. However, at the same time there is so much pressure in society into accepting abortion and hormonal birth control as normal and good options that often those of us that have a problem with it feel the need to overreact and over compensate. At the end of the day, women need the support to make the choice not to have an abortion and they need *unbiased* education about the risks of abortion and hormonal birth control. Neither the pro life activists nor the Planned Parenthood types are really equipped to provide an unbiased account of that.

There is no more pressure in society to accept birth control than there is pressure not to have an abortion, I would say the latter applies much more pressure on a woman.

At the end of the day women need the support to make whatever decision is right for them and their life at the time.

Those are normal and good options.

You know what women need? They need doctors and support systems that will say "Here are your options. You make the decision that is best for you at this time in your life and we will support you."

no i don't know what birthright is. my mother was a volunteer for abba crisis pregnancy center when i was young. our home telephone line was used for certain hours of the week for girls to call in for someone to talk to. abortions were discouraged and the center would cease communication if that was the route the girl decided to take. they would give donations of baby items, places to stay. my mother found out quickly that in most of these girls' lives, there was no support to be had. there was no money. no school. just young girls lined up to continue the cycle of poverty and broken people. countless stories of sexual and physical abuse. the constant trauma was too much for my mom and she quit. while it's great when people try and support women who decide to carry a pregnancy - as teddy said, interest fades fast once the baby is born. parenthood for many women isn't so simple as finding daycare or being able to stay in school. babies become children and children become teenagers. having a baby isn't just popping out a ball of cute and changing a few diapers. that's why supporting a woman regardless of her reproductive choices is most important. when it's all said and done, you can't know that woman's past or what her future holds, you most certainly can't know what sort of life waits for her child. the only person with even the slightest bit of knowledge regarding what the future holds is the woman making the decision. you know what you would do and that's fine - for you.

DAnno brings you the story ahead of everyone else and what thanks do I get?

Rule no. 1.... never doubt Danno, in my thousands of posts here, very very rarely am I wrong, either on the facts or predictions.

Take a look at the young lady who is no longer with us... and her worm of a husband who most likely, exchanged the blood of their child for a wide-screen or PSL tix.

I assumed most of you folks had enough sense to know that when Lawyers are involved (which no doubt they are) details will be slow coming due to legal issues.

----------------------------------------------

Anti-abortion activists have taken up the tragic case of a 29-year-old woman from upstate New York who died while terminating her advanced pregnancy, demanding the closing of the clinic where the procedure was performed.

On Monday, more than 150 pro-life activists gathered near the clinic in Germantown, Maryland, accusing the head of the medical center, Dr LeRoy Carhart, of being directly responsible for the death of Jennifer McKenna Morbelli last week.

'We will not rest until this clinic is shut down and the license of LeRoy Carhart is revoked. God let it be so,' the Rev. Patrick Mahoney, director of the Christian Defense Coalition, said at the demonstration.

McKenna Morbelli, of New Rochelle, traveled to the clinic last week to have a late-term abortion 33 weeks into her pregnancy after it became apparent that her fetus had developed abnormalities.

Following a complex multi-day procedure, the 29-year-old married woman allegedly suffered a ruptured uterus and passed away from massive internal bleeding in a nearby hospital.

This information has not been confirmed by Maryland officials who are awaiting the results of an autopsy.

Maryland currently allows clinics to perform late-term abortions in cases where the fetus develops an abnormality. In contrast, New York law allows such abortions only when the mother's health or life is in danger.

Amid growing pressure from conservative groups that have seized on the woman's death to raise awareness about the purported dangers associated with late-term abortions, the Maryland Office of Health Care Quality and the Montgomery County Police Department both launched investigations into the incident, The Washington Post reported.

The circumstances surrounding the death remain unclear, along with the exact nature of the baby's abnormalities.

The Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has performed an autopsy on Morbelli’s body, but officials say a complete review could take more than a month.

‘It is so tragic that this family had to lose not only their nearly full-term child, but also their wife, daughter, and sister,’ said Michael Martelli, executive director of the Maryland Coalition for Life, according to the Catholic News Agency.

if you look a few posts back, i posted her obituary yesterday.

from the article you just posted, the woman found out her baby had physical abnormalities. she CHOSE to end the pregnancy. her worm of a husband? disgusting assertion on your part. how did you determine he scored cash for his dead baby?

she went to maryland with family. she wasn't alone or coerced.

Who said she was alone, the very first report I made on the story mentioned family being with her.

I didn't say he sold anything.... I suggested when it came to the choice of caring for his child or putting that money and effort on something a little more pleasurable so often The choice is made at BEST BUY.

Believe me I know what I am talking about. I can't tell you how many of these pathetic women get dropped off by their mate as if they are getting their hair done, it is a marvel to watch really, most of the time the guy not only doesn't go in with her..... he doesn't even bother to walk around and open the door to let her out of the car or walk her to the entrance.

Womens Liberation.

Anyway,

We will let the facts come out and see how it unfolds.

As it is Most of those running their mouth in this tread look kinda silly as they swore the whole thing was made up by an anti-abortion group.

You stalk women seeking assistance with their reproductive medical care? Danno, for shame! Not a shocker though.

I don't care why anyone chooses to get a legal abortion. I do care if their access is denied if that's their choice.

I did not want to go through seven pages on an abortion topic but from this latest post are you/they arguing for safer abortion clinics? Where do I sign the petition?

who swore the whole thing was made up? i wanted to know the facts behind what happened, cut through the prolife sensationalism. i asked relevant questions - which still haven't been answered.

so you sit outside of abortion clinics to see if the girls have doors opened for them to enter? how completely weird.

pathetic women?

Do you ever read what's actually posted in articles or in the responses to them on this forum? Because you're consistently saying people said things that they didn't.

Please show me one person who said this story was made up. You're the man of facts, Danno, surely you can back this one up?

It's disgusting to me that on this forum, you're allowed to spew whatever hatred you'd like. What did you do to get that privilege? It's impressive.
