Hey VJ, After Eighteen long months of anticipation I was approve today.

Background Info: I came here on F-1 visa, finished school and applied for opt, 2 months before my opt expire my husband and I hire a lawyer to help with the process because we didn't have a clue on where to start and didn't know about VJ at the time. My husband at the time was LPR and this 'CLUELESS LAWYER' send in AOS with I-130 application. You know what happen it got rejected  After the rejected notice we decide that he was useless and just a money grabber. So we fired him and decide that we would file on our own.

We resubmitted I-130 and waited for PD of August 23,2011. At that time I was out -of- status since my husband was LPR and I had to wait on his citizenship approval in OCT 2012. When he acquired citizenship we immediately upgrade with NVC and contact USCIS and filed AOS on Oct 30. Also , I did not received a NOA I-130 approval in the mail. Eventhough they (uscis) said that they mail it out and it was approved on June11,2012. Anyways, I sent AOS packet with a email print-out from uscis, NVC letter, and printed sreen-shot from USCIS showing approval on website. Thank God no RFE  (despite the many attempts we call trying to get them send a duplicate) told us we have to pay for it really

Interview Experience: We arrived at 8:50am for our 9am interview and went through security and waited. Got call in about ten minutes later. She was very polite and friendly, also she was making much of our baby because we took him as well. She sworn us in and verify IDs, passports, birth certificates for hubby, myself, and the baby. Then her questions were as follows:

1)whats my name, address, bithday and hubby's complete name, address and birthday.

2)Whats the name of the company that hubby work.

3)When was the last time that I worked

4)What year I entered the country and why didn't I returned(because I was in school)

5)Where did we meet(at a party) then the shocking question was

6)Are you and hubby related by any chance (Heck no) eventhough she was giggling

7)Then the usual yes and No questions on the AOS application.

She then said that everything looks good and she will only approved it when I get two vaccinations signed off. Apparently, my civil surgeon forgot to date the shot records on the form. I immediately contacted a civil surgeon in the area and they were gracious to accomodate me and take care of that for me eventhough I had to pay more out of pocket, took the enclose envelope back to her and she said she will go ahead and approved the case   Also I requested a name change to my husband's name since I didn't file with it.I hope that someone will find this review helpful in their case. :)

God bless and keep praying.

The following age-appropriate vaccinations are required for adjustment of status applicants, based on the above criteria or per INA Section 212 (8 U.S.C. 1182)(a)(1):

  • Diphtheria, pertussis, and tetanus (DTP) or diphtheria, tetanus, and acellular pertussis (DTaP) or diphtheria and tetanus (DT)
  • Inactivated polio virus (IPV)
  • Measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) or measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella (MMRV)
  • Haemophilus influenzae type B (Hib)
  • Hepatitis A
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella (if no history of varicella disease)
  • Pneumococcal conjugate vaccine
  • Influenza (if flu season)

A blanket waiver in all likelihood means that the applicant did not have their complete vaccine records. However, the civil surgeon is probably indicating that this person can get it taken care of after the examination, and is recommending that the immigration process move forward. To be sure, however, you should check with the Doctor. Also, the I-693 you need to send to the USCIS should be in a sealed envelope from the doctor.
