This tool is useless. My PD is in Feb 2011 and it's saying that it will current in April 2013. Not possible.

Yes, thats correct. the developers of this tool do not seem to update or did not have good data put together to analyze and predict.

I thought there was a decrease in the volume of f2a filed after nov2010. So i was expecting that after serving cases after nov2010, we will be able to see faster movement. But seems that i am wrong, because instead of faster movement, it becomes slower, from 4-6wks to 3-5wks. Currently, there are cases who were able to received their visas in a 2.4yr waiting period. But i think, with the new projected movement of VB, i will be current in july 2013 VB, which will make my waiting period 2.6yrs.

Hi ik2011,

I saw on your timeline that you had your "case completed again" at NVC once you became a citizen in December 2012? Do you mind sharing why you had to go through this extra step after upgrading your case at NVC, even though you had your files all ready to be sent to the consulate for an interview?

I'm having a hard time figuring out why there was such a long delay to setup an interview?

Thanks for sharing.

I believe that is their normal process. Once you send your request to upgrade your petition from F2A to IR/1, the status changes from 'case completed' to 'processing' and they will take their own sweet time to finish the upgrade process. Some are lucky it gets done quickly, some not. So, my advice is, if your PD is close to becoming current, do not bother to inform NVC about your becoming citizen. Just have the beneficiary inform the consulate at the time of the interview.

Also, the case file is not sent to the consulate until a visa number is available in case of F2A. So, my case was still with NVC at the time of upgrading. I hope that helps.

I could sign-in in to NVC system and there was no SIF. So I believe SIF has no relevance with neither case complete nor scheduling the interview.

YOU BETTER LET THEM KNOW!!

If the baby is born prior to your interview, you will need to file a DS-230 with the consulate (just like you already filed DS-230 for yourself) and must pay the fee. Your spouse will need to send you a revised I-864 with both you and the baby listed on it (and his income must be sufficient for the increased household size due to the baby), for you to bring to the baby's consular interview. Then inform the officer about the birth of the child. The baby will then be added as derivative.

Hope you receive your visa interview before you give birth. But of course, it is vital that you prepare the above mentioned documents for whatever might happen. Good luck! :-)
