Green card automatically issued, usually within 45 days of hitting a POE. She'll get a stamp in her passport that, when combined with that stamp and a visa, acts a temp 1 year I-551 document, a temp green card.

Hit SSA Office on week 3, get a SAVE db look done on her A# and VISA name, and if found, apply for the SSN.

green card not issued until new fancy fee paid.

how does one pay that fee?

Congrats to the both of you. Yes, I agree with you on just how exhausting this journey can be, but it's well worth it and the best thing anyone can do is keep the determination. Albeit, it's hard sometimes but anything worth having never comes easy. Again, congrats, congrats, congrats!!!!!!!

June 7, 2012 -- Sent I-129F to June 9, 2013 -- Religious & Civil Wedding Ceremony in CT

FROM I-129f NOA1 to VISA APPROVAL: Exactly 8 months! No RFEs

Our AOS Process

July 16, 2013 -- Mailed AOS, EAD, and AP Paperwork to December 21, 2013 -- Received GC Card in the Mail!

FROM NOA1 to GREEN CARD in Hand: Exactly 4 months 27 days! No Interview or RFEs.

Our ROC Process

September 21, 2015 -- Mailed ROC Paperwork to August 6, 2016 -- Received Card in the Mail!

FROM NOA1 to GREEN CARD in Hand: Exactly 10 months 10 days! No Interview or RFEs.

Our {His} N-400 Process

Eligible to Apply for Citizenship on September 14, 2016.

October 4, 2016 -- Mailed N-400 Paperwork.

November 8, 2016 -- Completed Biometrics.

May 6, 2017 -- Received Interview Letter in the Mail.

June 8, 2017 -- Interview Passed!

June 16, 2017 -- Oath Ceremony! He is a USC!!

FROM Application to CITIZENSHIP: Exactly 8 months 13 days! No RFEs.

AOS Journey

11-04-2011 sent AOS to Chicago lockbox

11-07-2011 delivered

11-08-2011 Date on text messages but did not receive until 11-22-2011

11-23-2011 Check cashed.

11-25-2011 Hard copies of NOA1s

12-06-2012 Pui's Brother unexpectly passes away and we make an info pass appointment and receive an emergancy AP so she can return home. Pui leaves for Thailand for 2 weeks.

12-06-2012 Get a text message and email that she received an RFE

12-12-2012 RFE for original birth certificate. I swear we sent it along with a certificate translation of it.

12-20-2012 Pui returns from Thailand.

12-21-2012 We send the RFE back for with original birth certificate along with a new certificate of translation(I had to wait for her to return for her to sign)

12-26-2012 text and email they have received the RFE.

12-29-2012 Appointment for biometrics is 01-23-2012

01-13-2012 AP is approved.

01-23-2012 Biometrics appointment. Later during the evening the text and email saying the EAD is approved.

01-31-2012 EAD/AP combo card arrives.

05-22-2012 Email and text card is in production!

Thanks to everyone for the offer of congratulations! I'll be leaving Afghanistan on March 5th to go get my wife and son and take them to the States. We're hoping to POE in Atlanta on the 9th, the day before my father's 70th birthday, which will be a nice surprise for him...getting to meet his only grandson for the first time.

I had just checked it out, to see it, and I was thinking the same thing... what is this, some scam? I had to double-check the URL!! LOL!

I'm a dual US/Hungarian citizen (both by birth; Hungarian citizenship verification TBA), and my husband is a dual British/Irish citizen (by treaty) from Northern Ireland. We are atheists.

28 Jun 2013: POE Houston

08 Jul 2013: SSN received (at SSA office)

07 Aug 2013: Green Card received

27 Feb 2014: Whoa, life happened. Planning move "back home" together to Republic of Ireland by end of April.

29 Apr 2014: POE Dublin through Heathrow

15 May 2014: Received formal residency/work permission (GNIB card with Stamp 4, one year renewable) for the ROI

I've purchased our plane tickets and we'll POE in New York (JFK) on March 10th, then fly down to Florida. Can hardly wait!

Regarding the fee requested HERE...do I pay that before we fly to the States and show the receipt to immigration at the POE and ask the visa be converted to IR-1?
