This is such a sad topic and I am sorry for the loss to your family.

As a pregnant woman who is "blessed" with a fair share of grey hairs, the risks of miscarriage are even higher--not to mention the other potential complications. We also waited to announce the pregnancy to almost everyone. My coworkers knew, but only because it is impossible to hide certain symptoms. Other than that, we waited until we were a full week into the 2nd trimester to announce it.

It is true that there is almost nothing the woman can do that causes this to occur. If you had been perfect or a crack head or a ditz, the outcome would have been the same. Blaming the mother for this is as thoughtless and/or heartless as blaming a rape victim for his/her suffering.

The changes in your life and your dreams clearly show that you gave this child the best mothering it could have in its short time here. Please take comfort in knowing that this baby had the best in having you as its mother.

I truly appreciate everyone's stories and kind thoughts.

Sad to hear this. I have stood in your husband's shoes and I have an idea of what you're going through.

A little over a year later, our munchkin was born and she is a constant reminder that what is meant to be will be.

Trust that it will get better. (F)

I'm glad that things have worked well for you and your family. smile.gif

I am so sorry for your loss. I have never been a mother, but I have been privy to women's experiences with miscarriage.

Do not even think for a second you are at fault. Work wifh your ob to figure out what could be happening.

Try for another pregnancy once you are ready. Do not rush yourself. You need time to heal emotionally and physically.

Hugs, my dear!

of those differences between us, for it is not difference which immobilizes us, but silence.
And there are so many silences to be broken.”

  • 5 months later...

Today, August 7, was supposed to be our departed angel's due date. It has been seven months since J left. I'm thankful that my husband and I processed our closure on the miscarriage in January '13. We have continued to heal but we choose not to forget. To mark this day, we had a short ceremony after breakfast and we'll have another one this evening.

Si, man. Damp eyes here.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
