Thank you everyone! They have arrested someone involved and my family is soooo relieved they have caught him! (L)

Police arrested one man on Friday, charging him in connection with the Thursday morning shooting that left another man dead in the street.

Police identified Humberto Morales Ruiz, 37, of Lake Havasu City, as their prime suspect Friday morning and issued an arrest warrant for him on a second-degree murder charge for the shooting death of Rito Eltazar Valdez, 34, also of Lake Havasu City

Around 1 p.m. Friday, officers following a lead found Ruiz at an address on Medicine Bow Drive, according to Lt. Joe Fiumara.

“Officers set up a perimeter and the suspect walked out waving a white sheet,” said Fiumara. “He complied with all commands and was taken into custody without further incident.”

Ruiz was arrested at 1:30 p.m., and Fiumara indicated they would be spending the rest of Friday processing and interviewing Ruiz. However, police stated Ruiz admitted involvement in the incident.

Fiumara indicated Ruiz is a U.S. citizen but that they suspect Valdez may have been in the U.S. illegally.

Lake Havasu City police said they were called to Magnolia and Stone Crop shortly before 3 a.m. Thursday after an area resident reported hearing a loud bang. Ruiz was found lying dead in the road with a single gunshot wound when police arrived.

It was unknown Friday if police had recovered the murder weapon.

Fiumara praised the officers' efforts in capturing their suspect.

“We had a contingent of officers that worked their butts off for the last 36 hours,” he said. “We couldn't be more proud of them
