for what purpose? hukuo book is not accepted for the I-130 or I-485.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

My wife is here on a student visa and I'm trying to get her hukuo translated, we translated this using a translator here in the USA. Is this sufficient? For what purpose?

Welcome to the forum.

It may work or it may not, a lot may depend on what you intend to do with your translated document and the format. There are many of us that have had the best results with the "White Book" AKA Notarial Certificate format, in our dealings with the DoS and USCIS in getting our loved ones to the USA and with the Guangzhou US consulate. They have been accepted for birth, divorce, etc. translation/documentation purposes. If you haven't already, please review the pinned thread at the top of the China forum page titled "Chinese Marriage Visa Terms and Definitions." It may give you some useful information about the acceptability of the "White Books."

Darnell correctly mentions some limitations that you should be aware of.

Certainly other forum members with post their thoughts.

Good luck.

Ok. Thank you for the quick response...also, does she need the I-94 since she is here on a student visa?

well, you not mention what yer trying to do.

I want to assume yer chasing after an adjustment of status case filing, adjusting from an F-1 into a legal permanent resident.

Please confirm?

Yes, she's here on a Student visa and it seems like most if not all the documentation that I have found is for someone that is coming in from abroad.

OK - I've studied your prior posts and my responses to you.

I touched on what you needed at http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/397477-i-130-and-i-485-together-question/page__view__findpost__p__5793832

but I think you not actually search.

when you search on 'hukuo family' you'll get more information.

You should be using the advanced search tool here. Can't see it? Come back on a PC with a webbrowser, have another look.

Here's what I was hoping you'd find, back in November 2012:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=395831&view=findpost&p=5771720

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=345198&view=findpost&p=5084170

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=318911&view=findpost&p=4774215

Apparently you didn't do that work, thinking, instead, that translating the hukuo book is sufficient. The hukuo book isn't accepted with USCIS, at all.

Sorry.

Click the links, read?

Sorry, it is for her I-485.

When I looked and did a search I didn't find that info. I should have searched harder. My mistake.

I met my wife here, when she was a student, we got married here in the US, and now I'm trying to adjust her visa.

Okay, same response as to your similar-themed previous question:

She will need a "White Book" AKA: Notarial Certificate" from China. Darnell gave you the same, correct information.

Good luck.

Unfortunately, you're probably going to have to mail her national ID card and a couple passport photos back to her parents and have them get the birth certificate for you (assuming she's still on her parents' hukou). That's what my wife and I had to do.

I am also in the process of adjustment from F-1 to Green Card, what I did is asking my parents to sent my birth certification and nortarization of it to me (because when the birth certification was issued that time, I didn`t get my name)so the nortarization works as a proof and submitted to them together, I am not sure whether your wife`s birth certification got her name on it? Chinese birth certification is so different from American :)
