Hi guys, first off I wanna thank my friend for recommending this site. I've been with my gf for about 6 months now, and she feels my situation and she proposed to me! lol. So yes, we want to get married, so she is 20 and I'm 22. will that affect us in her filing for my papers? and how do we even begin, I'm new to all these.

Thanks. :)

Congrats :)

You start by filing your i129f application. http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-129f.pdf this is the direct link to the pdf file of the application.

That is the form you need to fill out and send, and then all the required documents. http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide they can be found here.

You will want to fill that out ASAP, and fill it out correctly with as much info as possible! It will take at LEAST 5 months for it to get approved, unless you're lucky and get it in less than 5 months :) (we're still waiting for ours and its been 6+ months)

I was 20 when my fiance proposed to me, and he was 24. Age doesnt matter as long as you can prove that you guys are Indeed dating. The US citizen will also later have to send a form saying they will be able to support the beneficiary or get a co-sponsor. So your ages may take a toll in that, solely because chances are the USC (US citizen) is in school, or finishing schooling! (However, that may be a quick accusation!)

All the best to you!

Are you in the US right now? If so, use the guide for AOS - here. I don't know much about the EB-2 visa category that you are here on, but AOSing can be started after you are married, as soon as you have all of the paperwork completed and documentation gathered - including a medical. Follow the guide. It takes about 3-4 months.

Yep, Valerie's post has the guide. It depends on your individual case and your local office to the actual time it takes to get your greencard.

We files early August 2012 and had the greencard early February 2013. We had no delays or RFE's but our local office was/is one of the slowest.

Good luck!
