Need some advice

I'd read one thread on here that I can't seem to find again, about someone importing a snake.

I'm wondering if anyone can help me out/shed some light on the situation.

I found plenty of info on importing cats/dogs/bunnies and the like.

I have 2 Leopard Geckos (born and raised in captivity, definately NOT on the CITES list) but I can't find much info on requirements for moving them to the US with me. I also have some fish, but I think the lil guys will be staying here when I go

I've read that USFWS controlls all the reptile imports, but I can't find any info on their site either (I've been googling relentlessly!)

So, has anyone had any experience importing reptiles into the US with them?

An advice on how to go about doing it?

Can I take them with me on the plane? Do I have to heatpack them and ship them in a box?

Oh, and I'm from Canada.

There was someone from Canada who recently (within the last 2 or 3 months) imported a large snake from Canada and was familiar with the CITES paperwork involved - I think it was python, but I don't recall. You can try searching on this site using 'python' or snake' or CITES and that might bring you the thread.

You may also want to contact one of the land border crossings and obtain a contact name for a CITES officer who would be able to give you specifics on importing/exporting your lizards. You may also try talking to a petstore that sells them and see if they can provide you with any specific information re: shipping requirements, etc. Finally, definitely check with whatever airline you wish to use to find our their requirements. Is it a possibility to drive them to your new location instead of flying since that might give you more control over their physical environment during transport.

I'll check into some of those things and try calling US fish & Wildlife.
