when i filed my i-130 with uscis i put down my american address, i was in the states at the time. but in october i came down to belize and have been here with my husband ever since waiting it out with him. the american address i gave is my dads address so it is fine if stuff is sent there but now i am ready to file my i-864 and listed my address the same as my husbands in belize. i realize i probably should have sent in a change of address Form I-865 back in october. on the i-864 instructions it specifically says "Do not complete Form I-865 at the same time that you complete the I-864." so before i send in the i-864 should i send in a i-865? but in the instructions for the i-865 where it tells you whereto send the form there is no option for where to send it if moving out of the country.. so i don't even know what to do with it then. the american address i originally submitted will again be my residence when we go up to the states. so do you think on i-864 i should just list the american address or will i end up in trouble? the ds-3032 is for the belizean one. the i-865 instructions say "If at any time in the past you completed Form I-864, Affidavit of Support, to sponsor an immigrant, you are required to report your change of address within 30 days of the change if the sponsorship agreement is still in force." so that makes it sound liek the form is only to be used after the process is over. or should i just write my belizean address on my nvc forms and just leave it. i am confused. i am supplying proof of american domicile along with it.

Filed: IR-2 Country: Bulgaria
Timeline

I did the same thing you did - except the person at our US address was a roommate - and I never changed my address... we were living in Bulgaria so anything going to my husband's address I saw there. Anything going to my U.S. address was opened by a roommate - but there was never anything I needed in hand anyway, she just scanned anything that came and sent to me so I could see it. . If there was something that needed to be sent to me, she would have express mailed it to me....Just my experience, but I don't think you have to change your address at all since you will be living at the American address listed anyway ... I didn't change my address to the foreign one since I knew we were coming to the US once my husband got his visa, plus I didn't want to raise any questions about residency or complicate the process unnecessarily (plus now MUCH more is done by e-mail - I am also at the NVC stage for my stepson's application and according to the person I spoke with at NVC yesterday, everything will be e-mailed.... I don't know yet if they send hard copies also).

I don't think it matters too much either way, since basically they are both your addresses, a domestic one and a foreign one. I suppose if you decide to use the Belize address for the I-864, you should update USCIS (but then you will have to update them again when you move to the States) so everything matches up.

And kudos to you for going to live with your husband during this process! I got tired of flying back and forth to Europe and was running out of vacation time so I moved to my husband's house and it was an amazing time. I probably wouldn't have done that if the immigration process didn't take so long!

yeah well really i have been living in belize the whole time we have been together except for some months last year when i went back to washington to work and make some real money. i am also going through the process of getting my citizenship here so we can live in both countries eventually. so you think then that i should put my american address on the form? i just feel like it might look like lying. i don;t care which address they have sicne i am emialing and printing my own forms anyways i just didn't want to get in trouble.
