Hi guys, forgive me if I am posting this in the wrong place, I'm new here ! I need advice on how my husband who is a US citizen would file his taxes. He wants to include me (his wife from the UK) and my 2 children aged 12 and 16. We are in the I-485 adjustment of status phase and my 16 yr old and I have permission to work. Can we file for our ss numbers now or ? Any help or advice accepted ! Thanks in advance guys

Yes, take your EAD card and passport to the social security office. Here is a thread in another forum that may help you. It's for those who worked part of 2012 abroad. Your worldwide income needs to be reported if you file a joint return with your husband. There is a foreign income exclusion form to fill out that is explained. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/412125-turbotax-help-for-joint-filing-2012/

TY ! :D Do you happen to know how my 12 year old would get her ss number now since she has no employment authorization ?

I dont know a lot about kid issues, but I think people apply for EAD, even for young children. Or they wait until the child has a greencard.
