Hi I am new to VJ my friends but I do need your inputs. My wife petitioned for me and we got the approval noticed and the second such notice online and they mailed a noticed to her too. However, we have been making checks with the NVC to inquire about the status of the petition there but they said the have no case file for us. One of the agents at one time told my wife that the case file was sent to the embassy in Guyana (nb without going to NVC? i was curious so I asked her to call back and now other agents told her it was that the NVC does not have or never had the case file.) What do you suggest we do? it is my understanding that the file must be passed through the NVC first before going to the embassy in the other country.

P.S My wife made a petition for her mom in around 2010-2011 and she joined her there in 2012

Did you wife get notice that her file is in Post Decision Activity? That would mean the the file has been sent to NVC. It might not have been sent to NVC yet in which case she'll have to call USCIS to inquire about exactly where the file is. Don't panic though, it's been taking 3-4 weeks for people to get their case numbers from NVC after the holidays, so it's normal.

yeah i would try calling USCIS to see if htey have sent it out. i got my NOA2 jan 8th and 3 weeks later still hadnt heard from NVC, called and they said they had just got it. but when i reviewed the info with them they had my email put in completely wrong so if i hadn't called i would have never heard from them. I think they must just be taking a long time right now.

concur - call USCIS hotline, get an ISO, and ask when the casefile actually shipped out from USCIS on it's way to NVC.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
