Hello everyone! Hope this is the right section to post, I somehow always find a way to make messes :P

So I have "good" news. Today my husband noticed that our status changed fro"initial review" to this.

Request for Evidence

On February 3, 2013, we mailed a notice requesting evidence/information for this case to you or your representative. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the material requested. This case will be held in suspense until we either receive the evidence/information or the opportunity to submit it expires. A new processing period will begin when we receive your response. You or your representative will be notified by that office of a decision or if any further information or action is needed from you. If you move, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address.

Before I go ahead and write my thoughts and question about it, I want to specify that me and my husband haven't called or received anything that explains what more they need from us YET, we only found out about a couple of hours ago and we plan on calling later today or tomorrow.

I've been reading here and there that when they ask more for evidences about our relationship it might mean a couple of things. In the worse case scenario, they lost all of our documents and need more or in better cases there's just some mistake on the forms and little things like that. Sometimes they might ask paperwork to show that our marriage is not intended as a "shortcut" to get in the States, such as loans and documents signed by both of us.

In any case it doesn't sound like a big deal or anything to hard to fix.

Now here is my question(s): My husband and I have never signed anything together and we don't have any joint bank account or anything of the things that usually is taken as a proof of a genuine marriage. The only thing we got is his life insurance (he added me as a beneficiary) and some moneygram receipt (by some I mean 1). Would that be enough? Is this gonna change anything or make things go even slower? Should we be worried? And in case the official documents aren't enough, does it make any difference if we show postcards that people sent to us as husband and wife or show photos of me with his mom (I've met his mother even before I met him so we even have older pictures)?

Also any other useful tip?

And last but not least

My NOA1 date is 19th June so I wanna make other people feel better. I didn't get approved yet but things are moving so be patient!

Thanks to all of you

Giovanna

Unfortunately you have to wait for the notice in the mail to know specifically what evidence they are requesting. They will list what they want/need you to send and they will provide an envelope to you to mail it back. Good luck!!

Fortunately it is usually the case that once you submit the requested information, they apply it to your case right away and you are processed in a few days to a few weeks. So don't panic.

Thanks a lot you guys. I am very calm and confident but also very curious. I am strangely excited! Someone finally touched our petition so things can only go towards the right direction from now on!

I'll wait for the mail so I will find out what they want. Can't wait to get the mail and fix what's needed to be fixed!

The postal mail goes to the USCitizen petitioner. He has to wait till it shows up, then reads it.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

We finally got the mail that says what we need to send! They just want a copy of our marriage certificate. Looks like the one we sent isn't the one they wanted so we have to send one with the golden stamp. That's an easy fix! I guess I might get approved very soon. YAY!

Awesome, that should go quick! Don't send the original unless they specifically requested it, though. It might be worth making a color copy if it shows the seal clearly.

We have 3 copies with the seal. They said we could send a very clear photocopy if we wanted to. We made a quick phone call to see if they would accept a fax so that we didn't need to wait for mail time but they don't accept faxes. All in all, things are good! Starting to see the end of this tunnel!

Still no good news :(

It's been 17 days since the RFE. And 11 days since we sent in all the things they asked for. Starting to get depressed again :(

Am I just being stupid or this is normal wait time to see any update? Is 11 days normal for post offices to move a letter from Georgia to Vermont?

Please people keep me sane!
