I do get irritated almost every time I see an approval where they sent in their package AFTER the stupid Charleston Field Office received our response from our STUPID NOID that should NOT have been.

And yes, at times it almost seems like the person posting is gloating. Although I’m pretty sure that the majority of the time they are just wanting to share their happiness and excitement.

I feel bad for the people still stuck at VSC. :( I hope they get some movement and very quickly!

And those poor people that get stuck in AP for what seems like forever. I don’t know how they do it.

I have a couple of windows where I can’t go to Montreal for an interview and will have to reschedule if my appointment is then (provincial exams for my daughter to graduate and her graduation) and I worry I may be homeless at the end of July.

yah like three or four abroad came through recently around thirty days!

Auto expedite for Canada (and maybe elsewhere?) was always spotty to begin with. I listed my Canadian address ONLY on all forms and still ended up at Vermont--apparently the "auto-expedite" line was at the CA service center. Don't beat yourself up about it, it was never a guarantee, and I know I (and some other Americans in Canada who filed around the same time I did and got stuck in VERMONT HELL) certainly didn't benefit from it either.

I really feel your pain. Like Darnell I have been seeing the ebb and flow of petitions at the service centers over the last five years and it never seems to get any better. And VSC is the worst.

When we went through the process in 2007 we were caught in a massive backlog caused by the petition fee increase. They were flooded by so many people trying to beat the price rise that they just seemed to collapse under the pressure.

We sent our petition in Oct 2007 and it took over three months just to get the NOA1 - yes you heard that right, it took 96 days to get the check cashed and the NOA1 before we could even relax and know they had received the petition at all.

Then it seemed as though they 'lost' a whole stack of petitions from between Oct 07 and Jan 08 because CSC started approvals for those and the VSC started approving petitions filed after Jan 08. I was tearing my hair out at this point. (of course many people on here told those of us venting about it that we just had to be patient. But it's hard deal with a situation where someone who files 3-4 months after you is getting approved before you)

Then ten months after we filed we got a notice that because of the backlog ( or perhaps because they had just discovered several thousand petitions misplaced in a dusty cupboard somewhere) that our petition was being transferred to CSC.

It took less than 2 week for it to be approved then.

The ironic things is the backlog was caused by a fee price rise and the fee price rise was supposed to be used to hire loads more staff and improve things.

FWIW, I think VSC was not really good with expediting file from abroads from a variety of countries.

What is the reason for the discrepancies between the time it takes for certain applications to get approved and others? Some of you have been waiting a ludicrously long time that makes me anxious. Are the differences due to the fact we are all applying from different countries (i.e., some countries are faster than others), or what?
