Weird...

Anyways, thanks for this post. I'm just a little more than a month into the wait and I was already thinking of calling! I think I'll wait for a few months though. ;) It's encouraging that you are so close!

I don't know why people who have been in the same position as us aren't more sympathetic about the pain and sometimes illogical-action-inducing nature of the wait. I know some people can visit their fiances during the wait, but I can't, and I think that makes it worse.

Best of luck, hope you hear from them soon!

We met when Heather travelled to Egypt to be an au pair!

You are obviously new to all this. Chill out and keep waiting. There is no way you can "ping" them. Do you really want to know where your case files are? They are in a box, stacked up along with other boxes, boxes and boxes of case documents. They do them one box at a time. It takes on average aboutt 5-6 months.....but you didn't count the holidays did you? They were on holiday then and no one worked on any boxes. You can call and they WILL tell you to call later, in 30-45 days. They really do not know exactly where your case is at, except how it was logged in and how they mark those boxes.

VSC is presently working, on average, NOA1 dates around July 29, Your NOA1 date is in August, so on average, they are not expected to get to your until a couple more weeks.

You really have to learn to be patient since this is only the beginning, you have similar waiting for AOS and then ROC and then of rGC renewal and maybe Naturalization.

Chill out and relax, your documents are just fine and should be worked on soon.....more or less.

I cannot hear that 'wait patiently' like a sheep anymore. No, absolutely not. Be active. Flood them with calls and requests. Protest where you can. Write letters, talk to the media, use your rights. If everyone is waiting patiently nothing will ever change with this inhuman process.

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

Yep, not everybody can wait and sit around for so long...As long as you know that calling them before they start to approve petition that were filled more or less at the same time you filled yours will make absolutely no change, so you don't get your hopes too high, then go ahead, call them. There is no harm in calling the USCIS, but the potential time you can waste. So far, you guys time is yours, so you can do what you want with it, right good.gif

I definitly think that, once petitions that were send out at the same time as yours are all approved, it is important to call them and be sure that they didn't just loose, misplace your petition or just let it sit where it is: (I read a story like this on this forum: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/410945-k-1-journey-completed/). I would have been SOOOOO upset with my fiancé it he didn't call to make sure everything was alright, and we found out later that we waited more than the others because the petition was just sitting in a room where it shouldn't have and we didn't call to make things change).

I asked him to call after 5 months and a half. It was a big waste of time. But at least we were both happy that our case didn't seem to be lost and, to me, it showed that my fiancé cared, and tried his best to make things work.

Good luck in your visa journey!
