Everyone, Please advise me on the following issue. This is bit of a hassle created by mother-in-law; not intentionally. To make the story Short, this is what happened. On my wife’s SSLC( Diploma Certificate) from school states that my mother-in-law name as “Shannon” and on my Wife Passport, the mother name as “Shannon”. However, the name on our marriage certificate, the mother name stated as “Janice”. During the USCIS Process, we have placed the mother-in-law name as “Janice”. Now our paper work is in National Visa Center, and I just realized this issue. I spoke to my wife, and my mother-in-law has been using two different names. Apparently, she was not aware of the seriousness of this matter (Pretty Stupidity, I know). We are in the process of changing the mother-in-law name to “Janice” in the Indian passport. However, unsure of the obstacles that we have to overcome. I know we have to look into reissuing the Indian passport. However, what evidence we have to submit to prove that “Janice and Shannon” are same person. Do we need to obtain a court order? Or simply a letter from “Thahasildhar (District Administor)” will do. Kindly, tell me your opinions. In addition, The Indian passport office wants to see the “SSLC” diploma as well, and it has the mother name as “Shannon”.
