I think so. I am getting ready to do this myself. From the instructions they want to see current contact. The messages are dated and actually took place so I don't see any difference from communicating through email or written letter.

Yes absolutely, along with any other other correspondence, cards, emails, phone records etc

Not all by itself, no. You are required to have met each other within 2 years before you can apply for a K-1 visa. Have you done that? If so include things like pictures, proof of travel... passport stamps, receipts, etc. Do you use any other form of communication at all besides the two you mentioned? Have you sent anything by snail mail? I would assume you have something else other then just Facebook if you think about it.

They will need proof of a bona-fide relationship. Facebook is an option for a small piece of proof.

The primary documentation needed is proof of meeting. Typically, this includes receipts of airplane rides, hotel receipts, bus receipts, other type of receipts, pictures of you and your sweetheart together. Because I go to Russia, I always get photos next to a Russian sign or monument as that shows our location and the fact that I am in Russia. The chat logs only show that relationship is continuing, that is good but the primary evidence is the proof of meeting-put most of your effort in the "proof of meeting" in the past 2 years.

It is just a secondary form of relationship proof, there's no need to print out page upon page of transcribed chat logs. You can take screen shots of chats or chat logs, most chats display the names of the people talking and a date and time. Just a screen shot or two of some chats is acceptable.

Just don't send in any chats that are inappropriate or negative in nature

All of your evidences, when put together, should tell the story and evolution of your relationship.

It is suggested that you purposefully generate different types of evidences, emails, letters, gift receipts, phone call records, chat logs, photos, etc.

I never thought of keeping these kinds of things for this part of the process. (Flight receipts/anything, condo rental receipts) I always thought the pictures along with copies from my passport would show proof of being in PI visiting her. Do I need to try to scramble to do better on showing proof of visit?
