I have yet to get to the affidavit of support, but wanted to get this nagging question out of the way.

I have been an on and off cash student since 2011, even up to last year besides the time I stayed with my husband for three months. Never really carrying a real taxpaying job, but rather making it as a Nanny.

As a result of that, I have been many mother's dependant on taxes since 2010 thru 2012.

My question is, can I be my husband's sole sponsor if I show three months of sufficient income along with my horrible tax returns?

Do you have a steady job now with an employer who can certify that you are a permanent employee expected to make X dollars a year? Will they write a letter to that effect for you?

If not, you should think about getting a co-sponsor.

That's really up to the official who judges your case. If you can provide evidence of a solid income that will last and is way over the 125% of poverty figure, that may be good enough. You may be asked for a co-sponsor anyway. I'd have one ready just in case.

You can also show assets that make up more than 3 times the difference between the required income and the income you have. These assets need to be something that you could sell in case you needed the money to live on.

Like speedwell said, you should attempt to secure a co-sponsor just incase. Your situation is not a slam dunk.

While you currently earn the required amount, its going to be approved or denied based on the discretion of the person reviewing it. Theyre going to make a judgement call on whether or not you will be able to sustain that income. They determine that by looking at your history (you have none) how long youve been at the job at the time they review the 864 (hopefully by that time you'll be more then 3-4 months) they quality of the letter you submit from the employer (does it say your job is secure? Does it say theres opportunity for you to advance, does it say things like- we look forward to a long future with x working here etc) Have you been a student in the past and you now have a degree that you now hold a job in the field with. (you can establish that by writing a letter stating such and attaching it to your 864) Things like that will help get you approved on your own.

I would go with the posts here that you should secure a co sponsor alongside just in case. You dont look like you have enough solid history to sway a skeptical CO.
