K2 Visa Question - Philippines

Hello VJ's

I have done some research but looking for clarifications and trying to be proactive.

I am a US Citizen engaged to a filipina who has a 17 month old daughter. I have just filed

the I-129F application petition and as required included her daughter on the I-129F form.

I am working with my fiancee to begin getting her passport and NBI clearance.

After NOA2 at some point my fiancee will recieve her Instruction/Appointment package from

US Embassy.

I gather she will need to fill out the DS-230, one for her and her daughter and send to embassy.

I already have the I-134 Affidavit of support filled out for both of them.

Do I need one copy for each of them?

While her daughter is only 17 month we plan on getting her daughter passport as well.

Does her daughter also need an NBI clearance done on her?

I can see we need her birth certificate and photos for her daughter as well.

Does her daughter also need a seperate DS-156/DS-156K filled out?

Does my fiancee have to schedule a seperate interview for her daughters K2?

or bring her daughter with her to her own?

It looks like her daughter will need a medical as well, can they go do that together?

Any additional tips or information will be appreciated.

Anyone who went thru this with filipina fiancee (K1) and children (K2) your response

and experience is welcomed.

Thank you,

Carl Richardson

Update:

Does fiancee have to pay a seperate visa fee for daughters K2 as well?

Followup: My fiancee daughter birth certificate has no fathers name on it. He left and his family refused to have acknowledge or

have anything to do with her.

I have read for K2 father consent is needed. He is not on BC and cannot be contacted.

Will this be a problem?

Thank you.

No the 17 month old will not need an NBI.

Your Fiancee brings the Forms to the interview she does not mail them in.

Your Fiancee documents DS156 (2) DS156K (2) DS157 (2) DS-230 Part 1 only (1), plus the I-134 and supporting documents

The little one DS156 (2) DS157 (2) DS230 Part 1 (1)

Your Fiancee will only get letter (if she is Lucky) telling her to go to the U S Embassy Manila website for the packet. They no longer mail it.

My better half had her interview Jan 28th and they asked who the father was and she said unknown and that was that.

Be sure to check the document list because they do get changed and updated once in a while.

I don't think it is a requirement to place your fiances daughter on the 129-F. I you do not enter the child's name, then the child will not become part of the visa process. If you do enter ther the child's name, then you have many options available. Read the guides with care. Good luck in your visa journey!!

Thank you very much for your reply.

One further question. I believe you have to pay a visa application fee before you

can schedule your interview via BPI.I am assuming that we will have to pay

that for both fiancee(K1) and daughter(K2). As well as medical exam for both.

Thank you.

Louie,

No she was never married and once she was pregnant

his family had him move to another part of the Philippines

and they denied any involvement. She thus put no father

on BC as advised.

carl, first there will be no problem at all for your stepdaughter,as long as she has a passport and nso birth certificate!2 under Phil law and USimmigration if the mother was never married to the father, and the child is under 21yrs,the mother has automactically full rights and custody of the child under Phil law and US Immigration and can immigrate with the mother! They will do ytheir petitions together and they will have their interview together! You do not need the concent of the biological father for anything !yes you can do their medicals together, its first come first serve there so they need to check the days and times for this, they will pay for their medicals together the day of their medicals.i believe its 223.35 for your wife and 185.35 for your stepdaughter.yes you will pay the visa fee,for your fiancee and visa fee for your stepdaughter, but you can pay these both at the same time!in the future Carl, after everything is all said and done and your fiancee's and your stepdaughters visa's are approved and she recieves them from the 2go courier service the USEM uses for delivery,i think there is the final step for just your fiancee i belive to arrange for the CFO seminar and have her passport also stickered from them then its all done this i believe cost only 500peso's one peice of advice if you dont mind help your fiancee prepare for these differant appointments as she will most likely have to get up very very early for most of these,,on the days of these appointments making sure she has money for the fee's but also its important she has for fare back n forth and also for drinks and snacks in between the waits, good luck to the three of you,you can ask me anything anytime.weve been waiting ourselfs me,my wife and two stepdaughters under a cr-1 and cr-2's since july 5 2012 for our petitions to be approved pretty soon though i think godbless ps all payments are made in phil peso!

I already have the I-134 Affidavit of support filled out for both of them.

Do I need one copy for each of them?- K2 can be follow to join/ or process at same time as k1... if they will gonna go here in the USA at the same time 1 copy of I-134 is enough...

While her daughter is only 17 month we plan on getting her daughter passport as well.

Does her daughter also need an NBI clearance done on her? yes baby needs to have a phil passport too, but no need for NBI clearance for baby only the mother, and even at the CFO the baby doesn't need to attend the seminar...

I can see we need her birth certificate and photos for her daughter as well.

Does her daughter also need a seperate DS-156/DS-156K filled out? yes you need pictures of baby with the mother and you also in the picture as possible... yes they need to have separate DS forms...:)

Does my fiancee have to schedule a seperate interview for her daughters K2? your F and the baby doesn't need to have separate date of interview, she can bring her baby at the time of her interview or if the baby is to follow then the baby needs to have another interview date...

or bring her daughter with her to her own?

It looks like her daughter will need a medical as well, can they go do that together?yes they can/ to follow someone can bring the baby at SLEC as long as the representative has an affidavit from the mother to do that...

Any additional tips or information will be appreciated.

Anyone who went thru this with filipina fiancee (K1) and children (K2) your response

and experience is welcomed.

Thank you,

Carl Richardson

If you daughter was listed on the I-129F then you will do the same process as you are going to do; Pay a visa fee for you and your daughter at BPI, schedule an interview for you and your daughter, each do a medical. And then for CFO you will attend the seminar and you will register your daughter to get the sticker?

Do you have a passport for your daughter? Hopefully yes.

Thank you for for the advice! does she need a separate appointment letter? and an affidavit of support?

Yes, your fiance will need to do a I-134 and copy of the most recent tax return and W-2 for each.

When you schedule your appointment online, there will be a option at the end to schedule for your daughter as well.

May I ask what are the document she needs?that's separate with mine? thank you very much! We are just waiting for my NVC case number, we got approved septemebr 4 2013, I hope we'll have it soon!

Click my link below this post, Under the USEM tab about half way down is the embassy instructions letter, follow that for everything that is required for each of you.
