I am sure that Oct 17 filer got approved the day of her interview. Atlanta offers same day oath ceremonies if your appointment is in the morning. Afternoon approvals will get a separate oath letter.

Nimaan and I were not approved the day of our interviews

good luck everyone

Dear Fellow VJers,

I am happy to announce that I am now officially a USC as of yesterday at 2 PM (PST)!!! Took my oath yesterday in Los Angeles (LACC) along with 3,176 fellow colleagues. It was interesting to note that the USCIS Assistant Director mentioned that the top 5 countries for yesterday's event was as follows:

1) Mexico

2) Philippines

3) El Salvador

4) Iran

5) China

It has been a long journey (41 years to be exact)...beginning when I became a Permanent Resident at the age of 2. Despite being initially denied for USC two years ago from the Fresno district since I applied before the 90-day in-jurisdiction rule (moved from Texas back to California and applied "too early"), and then having to wait about 6 months this time around in the Los Angeles district, I am so happy and relieved to have this chapter of my life complete! The USCIS staff in Los Angeles were absolutely wonderful and extremely helpful throughout this entire process. It was cool when I checked-in to the ceremony yesterday when I randomly went to one of the tables and was greeted by the USCIS officers that met with me for my INFOPASS and my naturalization interview. They said "congratulations again" and the female officer that conducted my interview gave me a huge hug. Very nice USCIS San Fernando Valley Office!!

I want to thank ALL OF YOU for your words of wisdom, support, and encouragement. I would not have been able to go through this process (especially a second time) and maintain my sanity without YOU. I wish all of my other April filers much success and for those of you still waiting to finalize your process PLEASE DON'T GIVE UP because you will also be a USC very soon.

Three cheers for Texas Dude! Hope the remaining paperwork / SSN / passport stuff goes smoothly for you and all other new citizens.

I just checked my case status and it's on Oath Ceremony, despite my very, very unpleasant interview. Maybe someone in the NYC office noticed that my case was way past processing norm. Anyway, it says an oath letter was sent on 10/18, but I have yet to receive it. USPS already lost one piece of my USCIS mail (green card extension letter after filing for ROC), and inexplicably returned one to sender (my 10yr green card), so I'm just hoping the same doesn't happen with the oath letter.

Is it common for USCIS to state that a letter was sent, but not actually send it until a few days later? I saw someone mention that his letter was postmarked later than the date in the online update, but it doesn't seem frequent. I know some people were able to get their ceremony dates from tier 2 officers on the phone, but I really hope the letter arrives soon, so I don't have to clog the phone lines for others who need assistance.

I just posted on Trackkit congratuling you for a speedy oath as well!!

No updates on my or Canadians wife's case as of right now and we are finishing our 6th week since being interviewed. I think it may have something to do with the week we interviewed maybe approvals were not granted that week..well just a theory, lol since we both interviewed same week different days.

Last Friday I did call tier 2 to inquire and was told I was within 120 of normal processing time. He did tell me he open a service request but I haven't gotten anything in the mail to state so..hope he did open one.

Well, we will just wait and see...I was hoping to be done before the holidays but it doesn't look like I will be done.

Congrats again!

Otta, I didn't get my Oath letter until almost a month AFTER on-line status changed to "letter was sent". Said that, it doesn't hurt to call!

Yikes, thanks for sharing. I'll call USCIS Tuesday if I don't get anything tomorrow. Both times I spoke with a tier-2 officer in the past (failed change of address and missing NOA extending my status during ROC), I had a very good experience. I just hope the "gatekeepers" don't insist on shooing me away :)
