"A decision cannot be made at this time"

Reason to freak out?!?!?!

Did they give any reason or did you ask why? Was your file very big? I've read that sometimes if it's a lot of papers they might want to look it over before final approval.

I wouldn't get too concerned. Once you don't have anything wrong you'll get your oath letter eventually. How did the interview go otherwise?

I thought the interview went well, the man's son actually attends the school I teach at.

No indication, no extra large file, no reason I can think of.

He did have me verify the spelling of my name for the certificate

I wouldn't worry (well I would because I'm neurotic but I'm telling you not to anyway tongue.png).

could just be normal for your local office to have a supervisor review before the final approval word. I'm sure you did wonderfully smile.png

Ok, well I have no idea why either. Perhaps a supervisor need to give it a once over for quality control. From the sound of it you'll be getting your decision and oath letter soon. Try not to worry.

I went right from my interview back to my school for Open House. Guess who strolls into my classroom?

The IO who did my interview.

I have to go back on Friday!

Now THAT is strange...I think this is the first time I've heard of an IO popping up at someone's place of work a few hours after the interview. Did they by any chance say why you have to go back on Friday? Second interview? Oath ceremony? Very odd.

This is strange indeed. You would think they'd give you something official to say come back like a letter or at the very least let you know what the reason is. The good news is that Friday is only a few days away, so hopefully they sort everything out and you have your oath taking then.

Good luck to all upcoming interviews and oaths! Somehow I got denaturalized on the list (unredded, if I can make up such a word). Thank god that can't happen in real life :)

I got a passport in one day at the SF passport agency and was also able to pick up my naturalization certificate in person when I went to get my passport. For anyone living near a city that has a passport agency, I highly recommend using them rather than any other method of applying for a passport. You won't have to worry about having no proof of citizenship for the time you spend waiting for your passport or certificate to come back by mail.

The only angle I can see what is conflict of interest that you have his son as a common ground? Oh heck that is weird. And for him to pop-up in school telling you "unofficially" that you have to go back is even weirder. I would like to see how this pans out Friday. Good luck!
