Hi everyone. Its been a long day. And its worth it. The verdict ...... Approved! Heres my interview reviews.

My appointment was 11:45am. We left home around 8am because we have a few stops to make before we head to USCIS office. We arrive at the USCIS location at 10:45. We looked for a parking space. And we are entering the building at 11:00am. My DH, DD and our mini daschund, Max is with me. We pass through security. I put everything on a bin and we passed through a metal detector. They told us to upstair, Room 1 ( where I did my very first interview on my AOS). There was atleast 7 family including me. It was 12:10 when the IO called my name. IO Canady, is very pleasant and friendly. She told me to follow her and we arrived at her office and told me to put my stuff down so I can take an oath to tell the truth and nothing but the truth, so help me God. I said I do. And then she told me to sit down. She asked me for my DL, GC and passport. The interview happened really fast and it took awhile for me to remember what happened! smile.png She told me that she gonna start the Civic Test, I said ok. Heres the questions.

What is Freedom of Religion?

Answer: Freedom of religion is you can practice any religion or not practice any religion.

How many U. S. Senators are there?

Answer: 100

When must all men register for Selective Service?

Answer: Between the age of 18 and 26

When was the Constitution written?

Answer: The Constitution was written on 1787

Name one States that borders Canada.

Answer: Michigan

What ocean is on the East Coast of the United States?

Answer: Atlantic Ocean

While shes asking these questions she was writing something on the paper, I dont know what. Im really nervous. And then she handed me a piece of paper and she told me to read question number 1.

What do we pay the government?

And she handed me another piece of paper and told to write down the answer

We pay taxes.

And then she grabbed the N-400 application form that I sent, she asked me the questions...I confirmed my named and address, and she asked me if I wanted to change my name. I said no. She printed 2 sheets of paper, and then she asked me if Im willing to defend the Constitution of the U.S.? I said I do. Are you willing to serve on the Military Service,? I said I do.... and 3 more other questions. And then she handed me a piece of paper to sign... my signature,...then printed whole name and then signature again. She told me that I passed the interview and the test. And she handed me the N-652

You passed the tests of English and U.S. History and Government

Congratulations! Your application has been recommended for approval. At this time, it appears that you have established your eligibility for naturalization. If final approval is granted, you will be notified when and where to report for the Oath Ceremony.

And she told me to I should receive a notice regarding on the oath ceremony within a month and the ceremony will be held on a federal court. And I said thank you and she accompanied me to the exits. It took not even 10mins the whole interview.

We stopped by to get some lunch at Noodles Company and then stopped by at Cheesecake Factory. Im just so happy and thankful.

Wow!! We had the same questions and the same statement to read and write....

Hello guys I've been approved thank goodness. My appointment was 9:15 we left home around 8:20 sice were not too far away from the office but it interesting we ended up being late more than 10 mins and I'm freakin out we got to the building my husband dropped me off and follow when he find a parking slot. I explain to the security that I was late and he told me don't worry about it just tell them your in security. Too nervous I went up and down up an down in the elevator lol. I got in the interview place and again tell the security I was late and said told worry about it, there were 3 people including me. About 5 minutes later the officer(he) called my name. He ask me to sit down then stand up oath to tell the truth and sit down he gave me the pics I sent together with n400 and told me to sign it and asked for green card and dl. he was very friendly and pleasant. He go thru the whole n400 question word for word and let me sign the last page. Then he asked me 6 question. This is random I didn't remember the exact order. 1.What is freedom of religion? 2. When does the constitution written? 3. What states border Canada? 4. Selective service? 5. What ocean in east coast? 6. How many senators? The reading and writing Is all about taxes. Then he asked me if I bring some documents.i told him yes and he said he need the one will utility bills or letter with both me and my husband name on it I even show him family picture and he took it and that's it he said congratulations you pass and I recommend you for approval and wait for the oath letter to be sent. My husban told me it didn't take more than 10 mins. I feel happy and much better now were all getting there. Good luck guys!

And we had the same questions and same to read and write also!!...So I guess these questions are the most common ones to be asked.

By the way, for all those interested, I did the passport application at a passport agency, not at a post office. There was also a same day passport service available and it costs an arm and a leg, also the applicant has to show proof of an airline ticket outside the country in less than 2 weeks. I chose just the regular expedited $182 for the book and 30 for the card. The very nice clerk told me that it would take 2-3 weeks for me to get it (I got it in a week). My friend applied for the regular (not expedited) and got it in 5 weeks.

I don't see passports as immigration issues...only US citizens can get those.

I agree, correct me if I am wrong, but I believe USCIS has nothing to do with the US passport. Passports are issued by the Department of State. Although, I think applying for a US passport as soon as naturalized is important, I only got my passport application filed because I am planning a trip to the Bahamas, and in any case I may travel to my birth country in an emergency or something. I was planning on only applying for my passport card, just to have handy in my wallet in case I were ever questioned on my citizenship status. I am only going to carry my passport when traveling abroad. All other times I would just keep it in my safe along with my naturalization certificate.

My wife and I arrived for the interview about 35 minutes before schedule in the morning. The guard at the door was very friendly and wished me the best of luck in my interview. Once we went through airport style security we were directed to the second floor even though my interview notice said that I should report to the first floor. I went to the reception area on the second floor and handed them the appointment letter.

The receptionist took my notice, found my name on a roster, checked it, kept the appointment notice and handed me a large grey envelope which contained a passport application form! It also contained a letter informing me of where the Oath ceremonies for the SF office applicants are held (Paramount Theater in Oakland for those who care to know) and additional information on how the scheduling occurs. When I got this in hand, I couldn't help but think that I was somehow pre-screened and a shoo-in to be approved. But I looked around and noticed that most others also had this packet - so much for feeling special . But it is weird that the hand this stuff out before you are approved.

We then waited for about 20 minutes or so before I got called in. My IO was courteous, nice but not overly, very professional lady. After swearing me in, she asked me to take out my passports, GC and DL and nothing else. In fact, she told me completely clear the desk of my packet and place it all on the chair next to me. She asked me if I had any questions on the application and I brought up that I was not sure if I was supposed to list my adult stepdaughter on Part 9. She said yes and asked me for her details.

Then, everything moved at warp speed. She mixed all parts of the interview - going over the form, civics test and english test. She DID NOT go through every question on the N400 form like everyone else has reported here. In the middle of going through the form she fired off 3 questions from the Civics test. I can't remember what they were but I answered them correctly. Then she continued with the form, suddenly asked me to write a sentence on a piece of paper (English test). As soon as I finished that, she asked me to sign at a number of places on the form and another document. She then handed me the recommended for approval notice and said I passed.

Then she mentioned that I will probably make the September ceremony and asked if any dates don't work for me. I said I was going to Barcelona in November but nothing other than that. She commented that was a nice place to go. And finally, just as I was picking up my things and getting ready to leave, she asked "Are there any jobs that you do that are only meant for citizens?" I work for a federal facility so it was a legit question. I said no and elaborated why I don't do any jobs that are meant for citizens. And out I went…

There you have it. Pretty straightforward apart from that well laid trap question at the end. I negotiated that alright - a little taken aback but gave the right answer in a longwinded way.

I have some questions for those who passed their interview and received an oath letter.

1) What does "recommended for approval" mean? How does that turn to "approved"? And how long does that take?

2) Did anyone receive an approval letter or did you just receive the oath letter?

Thanks to all of you - my virtual support group! Good luck to all who are still waiting.

I have some questions for those who passed their interview and received an oath letter.

1) What does "recommended for approval" mean? How does that turn to "approved"? And how long does that take?

2) Did anyone receive an approval letter or did you just receive the oath letter?

I haven't done the interview yet but from what I've read the approval is final once it goes through a supervisor and they sign of on it. It seems like a checks and balances kind of method. It shouldn't be more than a few days toa week after the interview since you got the recommendation already.

I've never head of an approval letter. It seems to go straight to oath letters after approval. Unless of course you didn't get recommended approval and you were told to wait on an answer by mail.

Congrats and enjoy the future as a USC! After the oath taking of course. smile.png

So frustrating I had my interview on June 18th and got recommended for approval on the day, placed in the oath queue on June 19th and still nothing in the mail.

I called customer service and I put in a service request as it has been right around 45 days since approval.

I am going to be scheduled for Pensacola Florida, however I have no idea how often ceremonies happen if I get a crazy date in 2014 can I request a ceremony in a different location because I want this to be over and done with!!!!I am more than happy to drive to Birmingham or Mobile in Alabama, New Orleans LA, Atlanta GA, Jacksonville, Panama City Beach or Tallahassee in Florida..

I am so sorry it is frustrating. I think all of us hit that wall somewhere along the process lines. It would be nice to be able to go to another, faster, better office, but they don't work that way at all. In our case, once they got 700 in the queue and a location, they scheduled the oath. Due to where we live, that is done pretty quickly. My husband's oath is going to be done at a high school.

I wish you lots of luck. Soon it will all be over!
