N-400 April 2013 Filers

I received this morning a text message and an e-mail stating:

Your case has been accepted and routed to the USCIS National Benefits Center for processing. Within 7-10 days by standard mail you will receive your official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) with your Receipt Number ********. With the official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) you may visit www.uscis.gov where you can check the status of your case using My Case Status. We suggest you wait until you have received your Form I-797 before checking My Case Status.

I just check my bank account, checks have been cashed!!!!

Yep!!! Don't worry Azure30. Everything is going to be OK!!! My case is going forward, and I am sure yours too!!! Today for sure you'll see some activity on yours!!! Good luck!

Your local office is Des Moines, same as mine, so my timeline should give you an idea of how far behind you are. Apparently it takes 5 months in Des Moines. I can't naturalise until after July 1, 2013 anyway so I'm not too stressed... just yet

Hi, Can someone please let me know what docs i need to send with my N-400 for home purchase. We bought our home in Dec 2012, so do i need to send the HUD statement , monthly lease bill, both or anything else? Please help as i need to file in my N-400 by 1st May. Thanks

If you bought house you don't have lease bill, but rather mortgage statement/bill. If both of your names are on this statement you may include it in your package.

Thanks for adding me to the list

Every time I enter the forum I get more nervous. The more I read the more confused I get.

I Did not know that I have to add more documents to my N400. I read the instructions and it did not say I have to add anything but the N-400 filled with all the info, to answer N/A when the questions in it did not applied to me, to send a Check/Money order of $680 and 2 recent pictures (passport style) with my alien number in the back written with pencil. That's it. At least that was what I understood.

I'm not married and have never been. I did not buy a home, I have just lived renting.

As I commented in my previous post, I am very nervous as I think I did not write my alien number on the back of my Bank Money order. Now I don't have the chance to know if it was cashed.

I sent my package of documents by UPS and my tracking number shows that they were received on Wednesday 4/25/13 (yesterday)

I also added the E-notification form to my package of documents so they could send me an email when my papers begin to be processed. Nothing has happened. No E-mail received.

If someone with experience could tell me what to expect, I would highly appreciate it.

Not certain about your situation, since all I do know is the filing procedure through marriage. But according to the N-400 document check list, did you also include front and back copy of greencard? And If none of the other items listed on the N-400'document check list applies to you, then I think you're ok.

Not certain how much your case will be impacted by not having the alien number on the back of your check. I doubt there will be major consequences.

With regards to the check, if its a bank draft from your bank, you can go to the bank, show them the receipt and have them check to see when it was cashed.

If it was a cheap .70 cents moneygram money order like I used at Walmart, there's an 800# on receipt stub to call to see when check was cashed. Hope this helps.
