Hi there! I have another question to post. I was recently approved for k1 visa. I will be going there probably end of feb. my question is, is it possible that my fiance can invite my parents to attend our wedding?

My parents already had a tourist visa approved in going to australia and went back home after two months. My dad is retired in military and worked outside the country for 12 years, resigned from work and finally decided to retire here in the phils.

My mother is a govt employee here in the phil, she is a teacher.

They want to attend our wedding in US. They will be the ones to pay for the trip and the expenses of their stay.

Is it possible for them to apply even if i am on a k1 visa? Thank u for the replies.

If they apply now, they can get an interview in 2 months. There are a lot of applicants for tourist visa. You can have your fiance write a letter to your parents but sometimes they do not ask for it, but have it ready just in case. And put your fiance's info (name and address) on their application form. Make sure they have the documents to prove their ties to the country.

Here's the application process: http://manila.usembassy.gov/niv-application.html

Good luck!!! :)

Hi I do not want to bring bad news but here goes. Yes your parents can apply for tourist visa. The likelyhood of them being approved are not so high. They must have assets in the Philippines to show The Embassy they will not over stay and will return to the Philippines. They must have a lot of money in their RP banking account and or have land, businesses, homes, rentals etc to show they need to return to RP to run their businesses. The US Embassy grants few tourist visa as unfortunately Philippines citizens do not come back if they get to western country. You can apply. But keep in mind the above. I am not sure what island you live on. But in Cebu there is Blue Horizons Travel Service. They do a good job taking care of the paperwork as well as "sample" interview your parents in this case. Cost is about $100 upcharge per person. Good luck

Your parents needs to show strong ties to the Philippines, strong enough for the interviewing officer to conclude that the applicant(s) will compel him or her to return at the end of a temporary stay in the US.

Good luck!

I don't want to jump the gun, they aren't approved yet. :)

One thing though, my parents' interview is taking place around 6 weeks from when I called USEM to schedule it, so if you're leaving soon, you may want to move fast.
